I was at UT then, we had a great team and that game was and is the most disappointing UT loss I ever endured. I'm 75 yrs old and remember it like yesterday....just like Bill Mazerowski's hr...etched in my mind forever.

Curt is retired from the US Navy & from FedEX (flew for them many years after Blue Angels). Here's a photo of Curt briefing Cruise about the upcoming training flight. Curt & I grew up together in Crossville & remain in contact.

I wonder how many times he had to repeat what he said.

Blue Angel Curt Watson took him up in Blue Angel #7.

Watson was, of course, "The Crossville Comet" of Volunteer fame. A bruising running back, he amassed some 2364 career rushing yards from 1969-71. A replica of his Blue Angel A-4 Skyhawk sits in front of Cumberland County High School.

My dad was a WR for the state champion BGA team that defeated Watson and Crossville for the 1966 state championship in the Tobacco Bowl. Dad caught 3 TDs in that game. Watson was held to something like 10 yards rushing.

Dad went on to play football and baseball for Coach Shirley Majors at Sewanee. Four of his teammates (George Silvey, Don Denbo, Harry Ford, and Steve Robinson) went on to play at UT with Watson.

Tobacco Bowl! I was at that game. BGA team was loaded & took it to the CCHS Jets. Yes, your Dad's team shut Curt down that day. Silvey & Denbo became teammates with Curt at UT.
