Vince Young throws a punch at practice

At that point money has nothing to do with anything. Of course he doesn't have to finish, that's what his o-line does. You don't think people will fight for Vince, esp after this? Guarantee Roby goes after every ball like never before too.

Exacly, no respect from me. You give respect because someone throws a punch damn well knowing he does not have to finish anything and has tons of other people that are going to jump in front of him to take on whoever? PLease.

I know how things work on a team. Of course everything is AOK after it is all said and done. It is just useless for him to have done so in the first place. It is Nickey's right to be aggressive on D, yes he is fighting for a job. The fight will not cost him his job, but to hang on to his job it is best for him to be aggressive. Like I said, if the receivers have a problem with it then one of them should have raised the issue. Not the STAR QB.
Where do you get that Nickey is fighting for a roster spot, anyway? He was re-signed back in April and he's mostly used on special teams, anyway.

Who made the rule that only players of the same position can come to the defense of each other?

There is a clear difference as to where a specials teams guy stands and where the franchise QB stands in regards to keeping their job.

Nobody made the rule, just as there is no rule against being a punk. Which is what people that throw punches knowing they have people to finish the job are.

And since you agreed that this wouldn't cost anyone their roster spot, what does it have to do with this incident?

Finish what job? Young should've waited for someone else to take up for his WR? What were they waiting for? Seems like someone else could've beat the QB to the scene...

Him throwing a punch with his right hand at a helmet is more proof he's a brainless idiot, regardless of his "leadership."

It has to do with him being a punk, as in what I said in my initial post. Anyone can start a fight that they know they don;t have to finish.

If no one else beat him to the scene maybe no one else didn't think it was a big deal. Or maybe no one else knew thay would have 10 people to finish their fight for them so they decided not to start one. People are much more hesitant to fight if they know they have to finish it alone. Vincy boy did not have that problem though.

It was stupid, everyone can acknowledge that.

OK, so why didn't they report the part where the rest of the team jumped Nickey after the punch was thrown? I guess Nickey was too scared to fight back after VY defended his WR?

I guess Nickey knew a mob was going to stick up for Vince Dumb.

Wow, they showed the "fight" on PTI and all that happened was VY and Nickey exchanging some words and then smacking (open-handed, no closed fists) each other's face masks once or twice before being separated by teammates. Talk about a story blown completely out of proportion.

Nickey's hit on Roby was pretty wicked... had his arm around the guy's neck and someone had him bent over backwards over his own knee.

I guess you all think Farve is a brainless moron when he head butted Sapp. He knew his guys would stand up for him. Anyone who doesn't think his teammates don't love him/ respect him doesn't know crap about sports.

Exactly. It's not like he stormed in throwing haymakers or something. It wasn't a full contact drill and Nickey could have really hurt Roby. VY stuck up for him, it's not like he attacked some poor backup fighting for a roster spot.

Ah, that is exactly what he did. Nickey is a special teams guy that gets some play on D. Nickey is a nobody type player that is fighting to move up in the world. So it is in his best interest to go all out.

And VY is the team leader, so it is in his best interest to stick up for his teammates. Water under the bridge.

Come on. I don't know if you are insinuating Vince did something cowardly, but if that's so, you're wrong. Vince would crush that guy. I think you are reading too much into this. This doesn't prove he's a great leader. It doesn't prove he sucks. It's just a little scuffle. It means nothing.

He's not valuable. If he acts like a fool and injures starters with unnecessary roughness in practice he'll be unemployed. If the Titans let him go, he's more than likely finished.

It wasn't really even a punch. It was more of a slap to the helmet. Having spoken to Vince, he's far from a "brainless idiot."

I would say his position coach and defensive coordinator would prefer to see aggression than him worrying about taking it easy on Roby.

Sure. If he had a realistic chance of starting at DB. He doesn't. This incident is ridiculous. Ten years ago this wouldn't have even been reported. Sports media has grown so much they don't have enough to talk about at times like this.

allvol123 might be the first person to ever call VY a punk. So every person that gets in a scuffle in practice is a punk? What a joke!

I guess, to you, Farve is a punk too.
