Visitors for Bama game

I know that there is a concern about what the recruits think if we get blown out, and that is a possibilty. But what we got to remember is that it is not a secret that our program is at an all time low. We know it, the whole SEC knows it and the recruits know it. I don't think that they are going to make their decision on how bad we get beat because there is more to it for them than that. If that was the case then none of them would have even shown up after the beating we got from UG. In fact, we got some commitments since them. They are going to look at the system, both on offense and deffense. They will be seeing an awesome staduim that they will have an opportunity to play in on Saturday's, and facilities that are the best anywhere, and lastly, the feel of a family environment which CDD is developing very nicely. GBO!!

Agree! Perfect weekend for recruiting. Fanatic fans, even if Bama brings 30K, there should still be 65-70K in Big Orange, enough to see the love. Recruits always want to be part of something, they want to go to a place where they can play and help the team win. 3rd Weekend in October means tradition, rivalry and excitement. Losing means we need their help, winning means the old magic is still there, either way there is a lot to convince a recruit to commit.

It does not matter the outcome as long as the UT fans do not pull a Kentucky like their fans. The stadium will be rocking and is always a great game.

Remember last year we were suppose to win at home and had to block FG to secure the win.

Also didn't have to worry about having a 260 LB walk-on Freshman as our number 1 DT for this week, and also having the youngest o-line that I can remember in the SEC.

I'm the most avid Dooley supporter and optimistic person ever, but Eric Berry, Dan Williams, Dennis Rogan, Rico McCoy, Wes Brown, Marlon Walls, Ben Martin, Greg King, Jac McClendon, Chris Scott, Vlad Richards, and Montario Hardesty are not going to be running through the T this weekend.

Why do we pick this game for visits? To show us getting killed? And before half the stadium of bammers? I just don't get it.

I think its brilliant.

UT is expected to get blown out. We know it and the recruits know it. Worst case scenario, UT gets blown out. The recruits see a system that Dooley is very closely emulating succeed.

If UT keeps it close, the recruits can imagine themselves being the difference next year.

If UT has a great game, creates turnovers, and squeezes out a win, Dooley looks like he's turned this thing around and they get to be a part of it while there is still a short roster and an easy road to playing time.

Under any scenario, they get to see Dooley's vision for UT (Saban style football), UT in its oldest rivalry, and a team that can't possibly perform lower than expectations.

Its no lose.

Could the reason Bray is expected to see time be part of the plan for this weekend as far as recruiting? I would get Neal, Rogers, Hunter and every other freshman significant PT if the game is out of hand already.

Cynical but brilliant! :good!:

If the game is not out of hand, the impact on recruits will be even greater.

IDK that I see it as cynical. We have one legit starting DT about to play a great running team. I don't think Saban curbstomps us but I don't think the outcome will ever be in doubt. I hope we win or are at least in the game till the end but honestly this team and Bama are on different levels and it isn't even close.

I meant it as a compliment. :hi:

Yours has been the only comment I have seen so far that has connected the dots between the increased PT for our freshmen & the upcoming OVs during the Alabama game. Great timing on Dooley's part IMO. :good!:

Sorry. So much negativity here lately, I never know anymore. I agree though if we're going to suck, we might as well suck with freshmen in, build for the future, and show recruits they can help rebuild UT right away with playing time. If the game is tight of course we play whoever we think gives us the best chance to win.

i like the fact that almost all of our current commits will be there to recruit the few recruits we have visiting. a couple on the fencers hangin with all the current and new vols sounds good to me.

Great post, and I agree that this weekend could be very positive for us whether the game goes very well or whether it gets real ugly.

However, I disagree about the part in bold. Everybody already knows that Saban and Alabama are good right now; recruits don't need to be there in person to know that. If we get blown out, Dooley isn't going to go to the recruits and say, "Did you see how good Alabama was? Saban was my mentor and that's what I'm modeling my system on, so come here and we'll look like that."

I think the glass-half-full perspective if we get blown out is that recruits see tons of opportunities for early playing time

I noticed that on scout.com under football recruiting and visits, there is no one listed for visitors this weekend. Is everything really that secret or do you think there is another reason for it? Please share your thoughts.

There is a thread in the subscriber section that has a list a lot like this one.
