These are leaked proposals from 2020. Who knows where they’re at now, but the renderings look good. You’re not going to completely overhaul LNS in a single phase. It’s much more reasonable to do it across multiple phases, such as extend LF and renovate the porches (Phase 1), a year or two later add a second deck with luxury suites (Phase 2), and maybe a year after that put porches in RF (Phase 3). That’s not to say I have any idea what the actual plan is I’m just saying you’re not going to renovate an entire stadium in one attempt.

If/when it happens, they’ll do it piece by piece to make the process smoother and so the Vols can keep playing their seasons at LNS.

Yeah doing in phases makes sense. I read what you posted as, the initial improvements were all that were going to be done. However if that is just step 1 of a multi-phase plan then I'm cool with that.

Especially right now.

I'm coming to the end of a big construction project and it's been the biggest pain in the ass of any I've ever done.

Raw materials sky high.
Had to hire security to keep theft away.
Delays in raw material.
Getting people to show up.

It's been crazy.

Yeah, it's not the right time for UT to be entering a big construction contract. The economy needs to shake out after things get opened up further, then sign with a contractor. In the meantime, they can be finishing their design development and contract drawings, and submitting for permits. Getting to permits will probably take the better part of a year from where I think we are.

Keep in mind, Populous is not just contractors and engineers. They are consultants that bring everything into focus including financing and and scheduling issues.

UT will be presented with a lot of options including renovations while in use. or temporary relocating.

Had another thought. Track facilities are not used nearly as they used to be with only a handful of collegiate events every year. Another idea would be for the baseball stadium to assume Tom Black's footprint and to build a nice track facility including attached indoor track facility structure elsewhere where room allows. Tom Black is taking up a lot of real estate for such sparce use and one can't build an indoor facility next to it.

If one closed Pat Head Summit Drive; An indoor track facility could actually be attached to Haslam Field and the athletics Center. Then an outside track to the west..

Just an off my head thought. Could you imagine an new baseball facility smack dab in the center of student housing like that?!?!

A new baseball stadium is probably out of the question for UT with it's financial issues right now. A new one like the best ones in the SEC will cost at least 60 million, according to my research. But, as long as we're dreaming, how about this idea: A new stadium located between Lake Ave, Volunteer Boulevard, Caledonia Ave, & S. 21st Street?

Same here. Some of my favorite memories at the park are in the very basic stands in the Appalachian League. Good times.

Some of my favorite memories are trying to get beer on two bit beer night at Memphis Chicks games as teens.

Lol.

Elizabethton Twins was my team.

Good times. Went to every home game for a number of years. Saw some great players come through.

Was at Greer stadium in Nashville for the championship game against the Sounds listening to the ‘80 Vols/GA on the transistor radio when I learned about Herschel Walker.

I live in Chattanooga and I have to say, I miss seeing the Lookouts play at Engel Stadium. That old ball field has so much history and charm. It definitely had that historic "Wrigley" or "Fenway" feel to it. Seeing them play now at Bell South Park just isn't the same.

It's amazing who all passed through Elizabethton. The Twins treated them right.
One game I saw there had a cat get on the field. The E Twins bullpen emptied to try to round up the cat. It was funny- fans started rooting for the poor cat.

Crowds were so huge one year, they roped off a section of the LF warning track and fans were actually on the warning track for games.

Saw the US/Cuba preOlympic exhibition game in 1996 at Engel. RADickey on team but did not pitch

Stood on picnic table beyond left field and tried to get their LF to defect
With the metal bats and hot weather the team had to remove the camels before they got beaned anymore by the long bombs.

Saw the 2 teams again a few weeks later at Fulton County Stadium during the Olympics. Sat an LF stands with the several bombs flying over my head at the launching pad.

Tennessee played ETSU in Elizabethton in 94 or 95. I recall the basketball goal hanging on RF wall.
Rodney Bonds (2 sportier) pitched for Tennessee. Stadium was packed!

Dang. Was a ball hit that way? It could've been wild with all sorts of Steve Bartman-like opportunities.

Blue Ridge mountains for a backdrop and some incredible sunsets.
