Ty is my daughters boyfriend and will be here in Knoxville with us July 5th- July 15th. We left a message with Terry Joseph today so hopefully we can get him over there to meet some of the coaches during that time.
My family is originally from Knoxville, (season ticket holders as well) but we have just spent the past 3 years living in Chandler. I know we want to recruit more regionally now, but the staff should definitely stay in contact with Hamilton High and coach Belles. They are going to have some serious D-1 prospect for the next few years. They get a lot of influence from the AZ Cardinals which seems to really help the kids development.
I spoke to Terry Joseph momentarily yesterday and he did inform me the he and Tyler spoke so we will get something set up while he is here. I also hope to get him back here for the UT-Oregon game, if I can get him a late flight out after his ballgame that Friday night.
Just wanted to let ya know we spent about 4 hours on campus today. For an unofficial it was very good, except most of the staff was on vacation. We spent some time with the assistant OL coach, met with Chuck Smith, Bennie Wylie, Jason McVeigh and his staff and spent a lot of time with Terry Joseph (all very nice down to earth guys). Told us they would like to take 4-5 OL in this class. They are suppose to set down and break down his tapes on Monday once the rest of the staff are back in town. They were impressed by his build for a LT, especially hand size and wingspan (right arm measurement 34" which according to them 31" is average for a player).
Ty really liked Oregon, but since being here this week he has really taken a liking to East Tennessee. The campuses make the choice about even. We have the edge in that he wants an engineering degree (which OU doesn't offer), he couldn't believe the size of Neyland once we were down there, and the fact my daughter is here. Now if we can just get them to make an offer we will be in the game.
