Vn Dame Haters

Since I live in Fla.I do not get to attend as many games as most of you...god bless ya....I wish I could. I was at Fla. game this year.

My girlfriend is a huge Dame fan and watches all the games. I respect their schedule and think they are good team. Here is the question. I have not had the oppertunity to attend a Dame vs Vols game but there seem to be a lot of VOL N Dame haters. Why, are there fans really that bad. I just want to get a picture of why there are so many Dame haters in the VN. I cant give an opion on ND fans never being around them. thanks

I hate them because they get so much attention - overexposure. They get to work their own BCS deal, pretty much every game is on national TV and they have wannabe fans everywhere. I'm just freakin' tired of hearing about ND all the time.

As for fans at the games? I found them to be a nice group and pretty hospitable.

Actually, I think the ND fans are about the best out there. I've been to @TN and @ND games, and our trip to ND last year was about as pleasant and fan-receiving as any place I have ever been. I came away thoroughly impressed with their campus and people.

I went to the game last year and have to say that everyone on ND's campus was very nice. A lady in the admissions office gave myself and thre of my friends a tour around the campus. I was really suprised at how nice the fans and university reps were to us.

I've been to many UT away games over the last 10 or 15 years, and I have to say that aside from the outcome of the game, my trip to South Bend last year was BY FAR the best away game I've experienced! Not only is the campus a must see, the fans were absolutely the most welcoming and generous fans I've encountered anywhere. I headed back to K-town that Sunday with a new 2nd favorite team, and I did have some of their fans sitting around me.

Every Notre Dame game is on TV. NBC shows about all of them... It's contractual.

I dislike the kind of attention ND gets... Note I said not how much. Great teams always get attention in proportion to their success. A lot of people around this site seem to dislike teams like Michigan, USC and Miami. They have all been great in recent years.

Notre Dame, however, makes front pages and is always and the only true media darling. Say what you will about the rest of them, they win and deserve it. Not so with ND.

Their fans and everything else are decent, though.

I live in IL, ND is more talked about here than Illinois (FB anyways). Second only to Iowa, I hate Notre Dame but their tradition is great. I almost bought a book on Notre Dame football from Borders the other day. I just hate the coverage they get here. I don't here jack squat about UT here... that's why I don't any other teams... well maybe Northwestern, but only for the school.

Yeah, because of all that college football excellence happening in the state of Illinois warrants more headline space than Notre Dame.

At least you have the Bears.

Well - you're always going to have both types. Since you seem to think ALL ND fans are awful...Went to the ND-UT game at Knoxville with my wife (UT grad). After the game we were walking out and someone threw a drink at us, which of course hit her instead of me. Luckily another UT fan saw the guy and snatched him up before I got there. Bottom line - every school has their fair share of idiots.

This is the girlfriend of finevol! We weren't in sec JJ! We were in sec II row 19 seats 15 and 16. I did have a green ND visor on, but my tee shirt was from the ND, UT game last year. I was trying to support his team without being a sell out to my team. I must be an awsome girlfriend to miss the ND, Michigan game, well most of it. Although, I was sitting in the car trying to find coverage of it on the radio. Probably better off that I miss it! Oh, by the way we didn't get hit with any of the debis, but we did see it flying through the air. However we did see a man getting arrested for mooning all of the Florida fans!

I hate ND because of the previous mentioned overexposure and the fact that they can be 2-4 and ranked in the top 20. They are almost always overrated and drop very little for losing.

Right...

For all the outrage about Notre Dame getting favor from the pollsters, they have not finished in the Top 10 since 1993. Since 1996, they have only finished in the Top 25 4 times. Their record for those 4 years:
1998: 9-3
2000: 9-3
2002: 10-3
2005: 9-3
