What a blanket statement, care to be more specific?

Smallpox was the most deadly disease in human existence. The vaccine eradicated it.

To be even more specific, smallpox killed an estimated 300-500 million. In the 20th century alone.

The vaccine for smallpox MAY KILL 1-2 people per million.

Because the last naturally occurring case occurred in 1976. Bit of a technicality. It’s been eradicated because of the vaccine. There is literally no debate.
You are correct. It's eradicated in the population. It went through 3 vaccination generations to lesson the side effects.
Its far removed from the adjuvents placed in vaccinations today, which is where I believe we started.
