What a different world we live in. After Delta merged with Pan Am in the early 90s, I got to fly with some of the old Pan Am FAs. They were great. Probably the best flight attendants in history. Extremely customer oriented. If Delta would have been smart they would have put them in charge of Inflight. For one they didn't ignore the cockpit which is not what it is like now - always kept us fed and watered - but that is another story. They would talk about the awesome 4 day layovers they would have in Beirut and some places like that. Sudan might have been a great place back in the 70s... who knows?
