Archaic humans of that era M I G H T have had a vague myth of spirits, whether ancestors or something else, to seek favors thereof. But since the existing climate was all they ever knew, their prayers/beseeching favors, would more than likely be for successful hunts, blessings on their progeny, stuff along those lines.
