I seriously doubt you had the same thoughts and feelings after the first two games. FULMER HAS LOST HIS TOUCH! His team blasted a top 10 opponent at home, and two weeks later loses a squeaker to an even better top 10 team at home. Give me a break.
In response, hope springs eternal. The Cal game gave me hope that [a] Fulmer had learned a couple of lessons from last year, Cutcliffe was the missing ingredient in the coaching staff, and [c] the Vols would come out fired-up to make amends for last season. I was wrong. From the beginning, my statement was that "the Florida game will tell us what we've got."
And we blasted a "pre-season Top 10" opponent at home. FYI, UT was a pre-season Top 10 team last year. 'Nuff said.
We didn't lose a squeaker to Florida. We just lost. Heck, we could have won it, but that won't obscure the fact that we were pretty much outplayed all night long. And if "squeakers" are a sign of a teams' strength, what does that squeaker against Air Force tell you?
Sorry...that's just how it is.
