Vol fans are so Fickle.......

I seriously doubt you had the same thoughts and feelings after the first two games. FULMER HAS LOST HIS TOUCH! His team blasted a top 10 opponent at home, and two weeks later loses a squeaker to an even better top 10 team at home. Give me a break.

In response, hope springs eternal. The Cal game gave me hope that [a] Fulmer had learned a couple of lessons from last year, Cutcliffe was the missing ingredient in the coaching staff, and [c] the Vols would come out fired-up to make amends for last season. I was wrong. From the beginning, my statement was that "the Florida game will tell us what we've got."

And we blasted a "pre-season Top 10" opponent at home. FYI, UT was a pre-season Top 10 team last year. 'Nuff said.

We didn't lose a squeaker to Florida. We just lost. Heck, we could have won it, but that won't obscure the fact that we were pretty much outplayed all night long. And if "squeakers" are a sign of a teams' strength, what does that squeaker against Air Force tell you?

Sorry...that's just how it is.

I thought I'd NEVER get over the loss the year they gave Gaffney that TD that was clearly an incompletion, but I did. Life goes on. This too shall pass.

Well spoken, by an established voice of reason and moderation.

Can't add anything to that, so.....

Go Vols.

I don't know if you just couldn't see the game thanks to not actually being there or what, but this was a back and forth game. Our lack of a running game combined with limited depth on defense got us... but to say we were outplayed all night is ludicrous. We nearly blew Florida off the field in the second quarter.

Our offensive line is suspect. If you blame Fulmer and Co. for that fine, whatever, but I'm surprised that someone so self-effacing anticipated another 360 back to the very top in one season. The reality is that you, like so many Vol fans, lose faith at the first sign of trouble. Your type is the reason I left the site for most of last year. The negative attitude is like a disease.

We saw different games, clearly. We never did establish a running game. Our defense played well most of the night, with the exception of getting fooled twice by the same play for TD's (and fooled badly), our inability to stop Tim Tebow when we all knew what was coming, and the inablility to make that critical stop with a minute left in the game.

The 2nd quarter looked fairly even to me. We scored on a trick play. It was a brilliant call, but it didn't blow Florida off the field.

Yes, the offensive line is suspect. That's gonna hurt us...bad, on down the road.

I didn't lose faith at the first sign of trouble. That first sign came in 1999.

I'm sorry "my type" is the reason you left the site for most of last year. As you might imagine, there were quite a few of us here.

Especially after the Vandy game.

I dont see why everyone is going crazy after this loss. We lead most of the game. Our D looked great and Ainge played alot better than last year. The running game worries me a little but give Foster time to recover and we will be fine.

Florida is a great team and we are not out of the East race by any streth of the imagination. We will only get better as the season goes on and if we can beat Georgia and LSU we will win out. We have a very good team here and I wouldnt be suprised at all to see us in a BCS bowl by the end of the year.

There isnt a team in the SEC that will go undefeted this year. We get are running game going and we will be VERY HARD TO STOP.

It is a long season and I am excited. We are still the REAL DEAl and we will prove it soon enough.

GO VOLS

I agree 100%. this game is over and we must look to next week. if you want to dwell on this game then that is a mistake. problems and mistakes will be worked on this week during practice. teams can get better during the season, including the o-line.

I hated losing this game. And I absolutely HATE the gators. But it's only one game. We can still be in the running for the eastern division crown. Just take it one game at a time.

we all know Cal isnt a top 10 team. we can stop referring to them as one.

Regardless, they were a top 10 team when we played them. You can't just selectively pick which top 10 teams you think are legit.

If people want to keep bashing our home record against top 10 teams (which is very valid) then they have to at least give credit when we win one.

What was your season prediction for this year? I can't seem to find it on the board anywhere. You seem so disgruntled, did you have us picked to be undefeated at this point?

Dang guys I didnt get to attend the game last night so someone tell me, did the sky start falling in Knoxville last night. It is one game against a top ten team.

We will be fine this year. I predicted a 10-2 record for us this year and I stand by it. We are a much better team than last year, and can you imagine how good we are going to be next year.

Haven't been impressed at all with SC or Arkansas. Alabama is down. Georgia will be a tough game.

the only legitimate teams i see out of that bunch is lsu and maybe georgia. i still think that their qb will struggle in some sec games. im not that worried about bama. they have struggled getting by vandy and hawaii. arkansas sucks. they almost got beat by vandy. and south carolina, even though they have spurrier, doesnt seem seem to be all that great either. they barely beat wofford last night.

The one defensive play that irritated me was when Florida flooded the right side of the field with three receivers. I believe DeShawn Wynn and Dallas Baker were two of them, and the only guy on defense over there was Antwan Stewart. He tried to cover one guy, but Leak just picked a different man and threw for an easy TD. It really made us look bad. I'm not really sure how three Gators managed to get wide open like that.

Good teams find a way to win, good fans find a way to be supportive, but constructively criticizing what was obvoiusly wrong does not a fickle fan make. Our O-line has a lot of work to do, our D-backs need to find a way to cover without Inky(& Fellows) someone has to step up and take Harrell's place and we have to find someone who can bring something special to our special teams. I think we are miles ahead of where we were last yr but we still have miles to go. I like the direction we are headed in we're just not there yet.

It's also the tone people write in and how they say what they have to say.

You got person A: They want to address the bad, but also talk about everything good. I call this the normal fan.

You got person B: This person in their head knows what was good on the field but never adresses it on the board. The only talk of things that can be better. I call this the coach.

Whats the diffrence between the two? Nothing at all. They both love the Vols. Want them to succeed. They just have diffrent personalities when it comes to losing and everyone clashes.

Honestly I don't know many bandwagoners that get into Message boards and get into like we do. Like Letmestay and and 05 never again they got accused of being downer fans. I think they just fit into Personality B. Since I've been on this board these two cats have been here talking Vol football.

I don't doubt there alleigence one bit. Do they react a little different to a loss? Maybe, but we all do. So just say what you want to say baby no one around here is fickle thats for damn sure.
