These kids have been picking up a whole new offensive scheme.
They haven't had even 6mos to learn it.
I don't expect our idiot fans to understand the difficulties, and the presure they are under.
I DO expect the fans to actully provide some positive reinforcement.
If all you do is focus on the bad play, and ignore the progress, then you are not a fan.
Being critical is fine, just be constructive with it.
As the WR get better with cuts and double moves, their catches have looked better this week.
As the QB gets more attune to how the WR cheat their routes his completions will increase.
It takes time to learn a new way of playing.
I m glad CBJ is not changing the play book to make them feel comfortable.
I would like to see the coaches fit the personnel they have into better positions to win.

Most rational misgivings about coaching have to do with your last sentence imo.

There's been progress? Where? I haven't seen it.

Also nice excuses and nice way to play the "you're not a fan" card. When your opinion on who is or is not a fan is needed, we'll get back to you.

Some of our fans do take it to the extreme but I think it's just that everyone is getting tired of seeing this Tennessee team struggle all the time. They need to realize that we're in a rebuilding situation here and that Butch Jones can't turn this team into National Title contenders over night.

Did you see two Vol running backs have runs of over 50 yds today? Did you see Worley's second TD pass? Did you see freshman receivers Smith, Croom and Branisel have 7 catches for 92 yds and 2 TD's? Did you see the defensive play of true freshmen Sutton and Vereen?

I am sorry you are unable to see any progress. I can.

It's better than the endless coach bashing that's gone on for 8 seasons now, which I'm tired of. I want us to win too, but we don't have a talented team right now.

I agree 100%,, but why is it so difficult for so many of so called VOL fans to understand this?

There is a big difference between expecting the team to be a national championship contender and expecting the team to easily beat South Alabama.

And that would be because of the coaches that have justifiably been bashed for the past 8 seasons, yes?

Why is it so easy for so called VOL fans to make excuses for poor play? Sure, we may not have the talent of years past, but we certainly have better talent than South Alabama. We tried to give them this game and some so called fans seem okay with that.

See, I can do that whole you're not really a fan thing too.

Not so fast my friend,, I never made excuses for poor play,,,I never said I was OK with all phases of the game,, I just have a BIG ASS problem with all the negativism of a lot of VOL fans on this board.
And don't EVER refer to ME as a so called VOL Fan...

We won today. That is all that matters. Bashing the coaches and the players sure ain't going to make them better. All it will do is scare off recruits. Another year or two of recruits like those coming in 2014, and we will be back on top. Coach Jones is teaching a system. He knows what he is doing. Go Vols!

So, if you're not successful in your profession, how many years would your boss give you to succeed?

This

Critics are ok to an extent but it goes too far too soon. To think all the negativity doesn't hurt our team/recruiting/moral is being closed minded. Everyone one of us is a fan but sometimes what you want to say or think isn't the right option. Giving him some time to pull a good class, pull this team together, or see if he is worth pulling for isn't a bad option. Call the plays into question. Call a starting player into question. But calling for him to be fired already, name calling, tearing players apart... etc doesn't help anything.

He "could do things better" but "he has progressed some players". If you expect too much too early then your going to hate the next two seasons. Nothing will please you.
