Recruits want to go to a place for many reasons: playing in a specific conference, or; chance to get a good education, or; chance to get TV exposure for NFL, or; you name it. I would hate to think there is a recruit sitting at a table mulling over offers from UF, UT, Bama, USC, PSU, tOSU and Vandy thinking "everything looks about even to me, but who looks the prettiest on game day?" or "you know, that color orange doesn't look good against my complexion, but black is awfully slimming".

You have to remember these are kids. They are still interested in the coolest clothes. They like to look good in front of the fans. It does make a difference in some recruits eyes.

Personally if we came running out through the T in all black with those black helmets I think that would get recruits excited and the younger crowd at least going even more (not that any true Vol fan will need anymore motivation this Saturday). I can respect Dooley for wanting to stay traditional. Either way I wish it was Saturday tomorrow so we can get this show on the road and I can be somewhat productive again

I don't really mind alternative uni's and such, but why Black? I just don't get the black thing. It goes awful with our orange and its not our color.

I agree they are kids. I simply disagree that jerseys are the deciding factor to first tier recruits. My supposition is also this: this kids have been playing football for years. Many (if not most) of them grow up being fans of certain schools/conferences/coaches. A kid who wants to go to Bama wants to play for the Crimson Tide. Or, a kid who wants to go to SoCal probably loves the fact that their uniforms haven't changed since before JFK was in office. It is eternal.

Also, the gimmick of going black is worn out. So many schools have done it, there is nothing unique about it. So, by the same logic if a kid wants the newest things, suddenly by wearing black we have just joined a group where NCSU, UGA and others have already been. How does that help us stand out?

If we had a school color that was generic or not instantly recognizable as a brand, I would agree; switch it up, try to find an edge where you can. UT colors are some of the most unique in the country. In a landscape of reds and blues, orange/white really stands out.

If they don't want to play for the BIG ORANGE, Tell em to go play for Oregon State if they want black uniforms....Just that simple...If they are basing their decisions on where to play college ball on the color of the uniforms then do we really want them?...Seriously?

I could care less what anyone thinks. People holding grudges against Kiffin need to get over it. Im sure the same ones have told Majors he needs to stfu and get over what Fulmer did. No difference at all. He was here a year and came closer to beating Ala than any UT team has in years, beat the hell out of GA and the Cocks.
