People comparing CBJ or the Dooley hiring or anything remotely similar are crazy. NOT EVEN CLOSE. I'd agree that Tennessee should have attracted bigger names in your mind, but how can you not LOVE this guys passion already? Look how much he appreciates this opportunity and the respect he has for this school. He has been whipped by TN while he was with CU once, now he just wants to share what that was like to other schools!

When Derek Dooley was hired the haters from day one pointed at his losing record....and they were spot on....I was skeptical then. This time around my main concern was the hire would be someone with an average record and no type of conference titles or bowl games.

Butch Jones to me seems like the type of guy that will take the level of athletes he has...and all be it maybe subpar to their opponent and is able to get true fight out of them which is something Dooley never could do....which reminds me of how Bruce Pearl was. The guy has proven he can win and win his conference so far at his first 2 head coaching spots and be the team to beat in those conferences.

I am actually kind of excited after sitting here today and reading about him then hearing him speak. He did sound like a football coach up there....which is what I was hoping vs. Dooley speak. We needed a proven winner and we did get one. We needed a coach that knows how to win his conference and he has done just that multiple times. With the right staff I think we are going to be really really good....and I think he will probably get us an SEC title or two....because his record shows he will.

He also isn't scared to try to build a program since he nearly took on the biggest mess....Colorado. Plus he isn't scared of Cheek's academic handicaps (per Wikipedia): Cincinnati was the only program to win both its conference championship as well as the league's team academic award.

Seems like another panic hire to me. Cheek and Hart have now hung their jobs on this coach's success. If he has mediocre seasons say after two years then he, Hart, and Cheek may all go. The money coming in to the university will decide their fates.

Let him coach n support the BO. Our problem seems to b Cheeks n his ability to understand that this a football school first, has n always will b. His butt needs to get out of the way, so football players can come here n play according to SEC rules, not his. Time for him to go.............
