Just catching up on posts this evening Ob, and I'm deeply saddened to hear this news. You are all in my prayers.

Loving Father,

You are the Great Physician, and a child is sick and needs your healing touch.

I ask, Lord, that you heal this child, and I declare by faith that this child IS receiving your abundant healing power and that the child's health IS steadily improving.

Lord, give Obsessed the strength to look not at what his eyes see, his ears may hear, or where his thoughts might take him... but to look to you and at what his faith sees. And provide him with comfort Lord in knowing that this child is in good hands.

We proclaim Lord that "By His stripes, we are healed."

In Jesus' name I pray,

Amen

Thank you again guys. We are hoping for results of the culture around noon.

I'm hoping he needs nothing more than a round of antibiotics....

I'm still at a loss on how some one gets menagitis though.

Have they told you that it, indeed, IS meningitis? You can usually tell by the results of the spinal fluid, although the culture will be the definitive test for a bacterial etiology.

Best of luck to the little one and your family. Nothing scarier than things out of your control when it comes to infants

No sir. I believe the spinal tap was because the dr suspected it may be meningitis.

They inspected the culture a little bit ago and it is still clear. He did state that he has seen it blow up after being clear for awhile.

They are taking him out of the incubator at 11:30 and placing him in a regular bed but still being in the nicu.

As I understand it, a sneeze can give it to you. You just force either bacteria or a virus past the spinal chord lining. Pretty sure thr virus (if its viral) is like the cold virus. Gets into your spinal fluid.

Prayers with you and your family. Specially that grandson!

The first sentence is very uncommon.

The second is great news!

Just a quick update:

The fluid is still clear. Nothing has grown in the culture. My understanding is that if this continues she and the baby will be able to go home tomorrow afternoon.

His symptoms that prompted this were problematic breathing and a temp of 100.

He is still having issues with breathing, especially when he is upset.

Oh and the wife took the nicu staff some cookies.

Smiling all over the place OB.
