Volnation on suicide watch?

What’s with all the “we” stuff? Pretty sure all “we” did was turn on the TV or buy a ticket.

All season this team has been the poster child of the phrase “out kicking your coverage” with a beautiful high powered offense and a seriously questionable ugly defense. The offense has been the makeup covering the defensive blemishes all year.

Saturday we came across a team who for that particular game hit on all cylinders and showed just how ugly our defense actually is without the offense providing cover for them behind obscene scoring totals.

Learning opportunity for the Vols players and especially the coaching staff to realize you must have at least a solid defense in the SEC because on any given Saturday in the fall strange things can happen to you.

I remember plenty of similar comments about Tee.
We are each free to pick our view of the future.
I like mine much better.

Your are correct and I hope your view is the correct one. We have a larger sample size with Milton. He continuously overthrows receivers and too much zip on the ball. Now, maybe another off-season with coaching and first team reps will enable him to improve his game.

@ FL, @ Bama, UGA and A&M= four difficult games. I am in the minority thinking A&M bounces back w Jimbo’s players.

You must be from another country, so let me explain. It’s just a strange adoption of the English language. The fanbase is often considered an extension of the team so you can quickly communicate loyalty.

We / Us= team you are loyal to
They / Them = everyone else

It doesn’t necessarily mean you suited up and played the game. Hopefully this clarifies it for you.

People thought '97 was our year of destiny as soon as Peyton announced he was returning for his senior year.
People were devastated when we once again lost to FL and couldn't make it back to the top.
People thought we blew our best shot and it would take at least a couple of years before we would be back in that position.

But then '98 happened............

Hooker was the next Peyton.
I think Milton will be the next Tee.
Overthroe Joe is no Tee Martin.

Defense has to be better next year. You can't expect to score 50 every game and i don't think next years team will be as potent offensively to do so. So if the defense isn't any better we may struggle to make a bowl game with the road games we have.

Yes. When you score 38 and get your doors blown off, it is not a good recipe.

Honestly I like yours better as well. I hope you’re right but I don’t think he’s going to suddenly pull it together after all these years
Agree. He’s done really well turning into a better player. It’s a disservice to compare him to someone he’s not in Tee Martin. I’m very grateful we have Joe Milton and think he’s a guy who can get you 8 wins minimum next year. He’s not getting you a natty though and it’s not fair to put that expectation on him.

IM up set about the loss, but still happy about our season wins ... with that said something has to be done about the defense. our safeties and cb play there is terrible

Might should be more worried about the mental state of the team, since they mentally checked out when they still had everything to play for. Nothing like this ever happens (getting blown out by inferior talent) to other teams trying to make the playoffs.

If we had lost this game by one point, we'd be in exactly the same boat as we are now. Yes, our defense sucked. But it ain't a suicide thing.

We have both GA and SC at our house next year. I don't know if we will be good enough to beat GA, but film needs to be run (go viral) on the play where Hendon got hurt, fumbled the ball and SC ran it in for a TD. I know that's the way the game is played, take advantage of every opportunity the opposing team gives you, but this was almost like celebrating the fact that he got injured. Every VOL player needs to be pissed about this. Granted, they probably were not aware of his injury at the time, but it should still piss them off.

Uninspired play has it's cost, just like uninspired posts. You may need to work on your post preparation. To have covered up the defensive weaknesses to enter this game with one loss just might be considered pretty darn productive. We talked about them before the season and will talk about them some more. The other shoe just got the opportunity to fall. CJH with his knowledge of ALL factors will assess the defensive coaches and react accordingly. Might be a no-brainer guy wanting to join us, might not. If he is of the opinion that no OTHER coach could have gotten more out of that side of the ball with the players he provided them then so be it.

Won’t address the unnecessary personal jab.

Agreed, this team has overachieved beyond my pre season expectations, but ultimately the responsibility to have the entire team prepared for an opponent falls upon the head coach. I feel like this is an area to improve upon with this staff.
