Vols #11 In The AP Poll

Wow... hope our guys still find a way to feel disrespected. We need to keep the fire lit - or whatever it was that inspired Saturday's performance.

sitting here wondering if the ranking jump is due to at least in part that the powers that be want a top 10 match-up between UT-UF for higher rating and income numbers.

if it were the ESPN coaches' poll from a couple of years ago and the game was an ESPN night game, i might agree, but it's an AP poll, and theoretically, no bias to a network or anything...

but it does make for a better game to write about....kind of like how all of the sudden ND drops 3 or 4 spots after beating a decent ACC team on the road? to set up a 1 vs. 2 in Austin.....hmmmm

I pretty shocked that we're getting this much love. Usually we're all complaining about the polls and the ESPN coverage. What a great week.:)

Wow. Big jump. I like the respect, but we'd better back up that ranking.

Don't you know ESPN/ABC was lobbying for Texas to jump ND so that it will be 1 vs. 2 next weekend . . .

Exactly what I was thinking. Notre Dame dropping a spot or two allows for the cute 1 vs. 2 matchup, and since obviously one of them will lose, Notre Dame can jump right back to #2 if they have a convincing victory against Penn State.

I don't know...it's like the voters had a feeling we could be good enough to merit that rank, but they needed us to prove it in a big way...we did. I thought 14 would've been close. I don't know, 11 might be too high (until we show we can match Saturday's intensity a few more times), but I think 17 is too low. I mean, we were only one of 3 top 25'ers who played a ranked team, am I right - and of the three, Cal was ranked the highest. Either way, it's pretty gratifying. What surprises me more, I think, is that ESPN's power 16 has us at # 10!

It is nice to see us get some respect from the polls but IMHO the polls don't mean all that much until the last few weeks of the season....lets just hope that our beloved VOLS keep on playing like they did against Cal...and hey in my eyes:number1:

Wow. Big jump. I like the respect, but we'd better back up that ranking.

Don't you know ESPN/ABC was lobbying for Texas to jump ND so that it will be 1 vs. 2 next weekend . . .

Wow, that figures. That is why ESPN is not good for College Football. A rival network to give them a little competition is the best-case scenario. All they care about is the drama and intrigue, and granted, that stuff is exciting ... but they shouldn't go around trying to make great stories up by manipulating the system. There are plenty of great stories to tell, and ESPN needs to stay the heck out of it.
