The article will allow the writer to say at the end of the season that anything less than a 10 - 2 finish is a disappointment for UT fans.

Truth be told, an 8 - 4 or better season would probably cause riotous street celebrations bordering on mass hysteria in Knoxville. Picture the Carnival in Rio laced with a heavy dose of speed.

3RD OVER HYPED team
i have saw veery few say VOLS would win ten ,i can ony remember for certain one guy saying UT could finish anywhere between 5-7 and 10-2.
We are excieted as a fanbase,but give us a break they want to talk overhyped tell them to watch the sec network georgia and alabama im sick of hearing about those teams and any others in the sec besides the VOLS .this may not be the year UT turns it around but im hopng atleast next year that the VOLS put a beat down on both teams.but this year would be fine a year as any to beat them.

I think to be over-hyped one has to be hyped to begin with. I don't think we qualify, not a single sports authority is hyping us up, our fans don't expect great success, so what qualifies hype for the B/R? Apparently their windbag style of journalism calls for making crap up for web traffic. When are we going to stop even reading what these people post?

Incendiary headlines are bait to attract viewers. They don't even believe half of what they write-- they just want the page views. If they paid writers, perhaps they could get at least high school journalists.

The truth is traditionally teams this young have not fared well in the SEC . So you should ,using this as a tell, expect 4 to 5 wins. But we have youth who have tremendous talent and have been, from what i have seen and heard , putting in the work. I think that we are a wildcard to win 6 or 7 . If we do not make a bowl this year I won't lose any sleep .

Just want to point out that we now have a thread about the Vols #3 over-hyped team which is directly above the thread SI predicts Tenn to finish last in the SEC East...Pre-season comedy at it's best.

That's what I'm thinking. Most ppl realize we're gonna end up with anywhere from 5 to 7 wins. I think that's fair. Any less too negative. Any more too positive. But I wouldn't say we're overhyped bc quite honestly we haven't accomplished anything in a while. Butch is just laying a solid foundation. I haven't heard anybody argue against that
