since 2006 (7 years), i found various all-sec lists for each year. some years were from the coaches, some from the ap. there was no reason behind this other than whatever was the easiest to find by year through the search engine was the one i used. i found all of the tennessee players who made 1st or 2nd team all sec in those years. i used rankings from scout, because they were the easiest for me to get, to determine each players star rating.

5 star guys
eric berry
cordarelle patterson
da'rick rogers
robert meachem
james wilhoit

4 star guys
justin hunter
antonio richardson
janzen jackson
chris scott
montario hardesty
rico mccoy
robert ayers
britton colquitt
arron sears
johnathan wade

3 star guys
mychal rivera
malik jackson (originally signed with usc)
dan williams
anthony parker
jerod mayo
daniel lincoln
jonathan hefney (hefney was a 2 star when signed in 2003 and a 3 star when signed in 2004. don't ask me why)

15 (***** and ****) players. 7 (***) players.

i did not take into account things like eric berry being a 1st or 2nd team all sec player for 3 years, whereas another player may have been a 2nd team all sec player for 1 year.

so, have at it.

forgot to add, according to scout, tennessee has signed 20 ***** players since the 2002 recruiting year.

so, 25% of the ***** players signed made all-sec 1st or 2nd team

Why are you on this site and not your own?

I can answer that for him.

Because it is a great site and he likes it.

My question is why do people keep asking these guys why they are on here? Most (if not all) of the fans of
other teams that are on here wil tell you this is one of the best CFB fan sites in the country. That is why they come here. VN is easy to navigate and use. We have great threads and for the most part us TN Fans are pretty dang funny.

Folks that have such a big problem with other teams fans coming on here need to understand one thing. It is Freak and the mods fault. They have built and monitor a great website that causes other fans to want to come here. If you want to complain. Complain to them. It's their fault for putting out such a good product.

Darn you Freak for being so good at what you do!

Well there's your problem right there.

glad you asked.

by my count, since 2002 (11 signing classes).....tennessee signed 152 players ranked *** or lower. 7 made all sec.

they signed 20 players ranked as *****. 5 made all sec.

25% of ***** made all sec.

4.6% of *** made all sec.

Interesting numbers. Do you happen to know if similar percentages are true of other SEC teams without doing the research?

These stats show how good the coaches were.... This just proves that our player development wasn't as it use to be.

We seem to have had a awful lot of busts over the years. I guess everyone has them. We seem to get our fair share sadly..

Yeah, this coaching staff has been on the job for about a month. They should have nothing but 4 and 5 stars. Let's buy this bunch out and get a new head coach and staff before they have a chance to confuse the players that are already here..

This makes no sense. We signed lots of 4* players over that te period that aren't listed. Guys like stone, scoffed,Bowles, johnson,Magitt, arnette just to name a few over the past couple of classes

In general, the more stars a recruit has, the better the odds that he makes a serious contribution at UT. Of course there are a number of other factors involved: the small pool of 5 stars UT has signed, players leaving, players recruited by a different coach for a different style of play, getting kicked off the team, etc.
