Vols are better at OL, RB, WR, TE, DL, DB, and LB

They have 2 NFL first rounders as their edge rushers and that is the weakest position of our OL.
Pollack said UGA has 3 1st rounders on D but he did say after that they drop way off from the usually very deep UGA D, we shall see. I still think getting the crowd out of the game is the key for our Offense, if tackles are not hearing the count and on their heels it will be a long night for Nico or Gas Pipe.

If we're better at those positions against Georgia, then I'm pretty sure we are better against the other SEC teams we've faced. We're 5-1 in the SEC and have scored more than 30 once - against MSST. So, I kind of doubt we are better at all those positions.
Agree, we are not better at all those positions

OL = tall task pass blocking. UGA will load the line to stop the run and bull rush our QB.

TE = will we even target them?? If there’s a game where you need an added dimension, it’s this one and frequent targets to our TEs would help. Haven’t used them as much as I had hoped this year.

Setting realistic expectations depends on how you answer the big question at QB. How much better is Gas Pipe than Carson Beck?

Carson Beck has a very good arm if he isn’t rattled and while we do have a good dline for creating pressure it has not performed well against the run the last couple of games. If Georgia can run the ball effectively enough to create opportunities in the passing game, we are in trouble. Our oline isn’t great in pass protection and Nico is a bit hobbled so that will be an issue as well. In a close game I am not super confident in our kicking game on the road. IF we win, it will take a nearly perfect game in all facets or several turnovers. Tennessee is due for a great game we haven’t played one all season long yet. We haven’t won in Athens since the Hail Mary and Georgia hasn’t lost at home in four years.

Moore isn't anywhere close to Beck. Yeah, he's had issues because his weapons suck and he forces stuff. But you saw what he did to Alabama d Texas's D. He's more than capable of putting 300+ yards on us. I really wish it was a home game. We aren't winning in Athens, at night. Just isn't happening. Hope to hell I have to eat crow on Sunday. I absolutely hate Ga and Smart.
He stunk it up vs Texas and Alabama. Against Texas he threw it 41 times, barely completed over 50 percent, threw for less than 200 yards and 3 interceptions with no touchdowns. He also threw three interceptions against Alabama and looked like he'd never played organized football most of the first half. He threw it over 50 times, completed just over 50 percent of them, and only piled up big yardage as Alabama played prevent defense virtually the entire second half.

Starks and Williams are both projected to be 1st round picks. Some sources have Williams ranked higher than Pearce. Walker is also ranked as late 1st round or early 2nd round pick. They have talent at all 3 levels on defense.
Sometimes people mix up talent with execution. Our defense has a lot of guys executing at a high level and meshing together as a unit. As far as raw talent.. just no they win at almost every position on defense. We have some guys but pretty much every guy graduating from UGA this year will be in an NFL camp in some form. We are not in that position yet. The gap has been closed immensely but we have a lot of 3 and 4 stars playing above their ratings and they have a bunch of 5 stars playing like 4 stars. Our 'best' safety is a walk on. Their worst safety was at least a 4 star. I think their problems are coaching/development and not talent.

Being very clear the gap in talent between UT and UGA is not huge but its there. This game will be hard fought and I think/hope we win. But UGA winning this game should surprise no one. The one reason I am confident in us winning comes from the players lounge podcast this week with Jake Merklinger and Gaston Moore. They were talking about football and they didn't know how many games we had played this year and stats guys had. It was really interesting and refreshing. It is also something I have noticed is true about a lot of pro players on good teams they are rarely focused on stats or rankings or records outside of the next game.

Our defense appears to be better than their offense, which has struggled with every decent defense they've played this season. They were awful on offense vs Kentucky, awful passing it vs Texas, looked like they'd never played a football game before in that first half vs Bama, then Bama went prevent for a whole half and they moved the ball some. Beck is handing out ints like candy at a parade. Ole Miss dominated them and made their offense look like us under Pruitt. Georgia has played 9 games and nearly 40 percent of Becks passing yards came against Miss State and vs Alabama, where he actually played poorly. He's averaging 2 ints per game over the last 6 games and he's getting sacked 2 times per game over that same stretch, after not getting sacked or throwing any ints the first three games.

Dan Jackson is a former walk-on in the safety rotation at UGA, while Starks and Bolden are super high-rated recruits. Kirby loves a walk on.

Williams and Walker are the players most likely to make splash plays for UGA’s defense on the line. They can stress OTs with moves while having the size/strength to anchor the edge. Otherwise, it’s a no-name defense built around gap control and leverage. All those no-name guys are great athletes, for sure, but Kirby wants to take the drama out of a game. He’d rather force a QB to throw away rushing 4 than send 5 and maybe get a sack—except on decisive downs.

Both teams are banged up—UGA by quantity for sure, but Nico is the most important.

Usual caveats apply, but I think whoever gets the best out of their OL wins this one.

How the refs call this game will also matter. Georgia DBs will attempt mugging on our WRs on the line. If we can’t get off the line and get separation, it’s going to be a long night.
That’s very true. Our WRs have not stepped it up against normal coverage, so I would give UGA the edge in that matchup on paper.

Why do you think that they're better at Safety? Their safeties have been getting toasted. It may have to do with their CBs being underwhelming too.
Probably looking at their recruiting pedigree. On paper their Safties should be better than ours, but they don't play the games on paper

Yep. First few consecutive drives that we go three and out including runs up the gut and a toss to the sideline and the place will be melting down.
And Georgia’s gonna look like a totally different team from last week - at home and at night with Kirby playing the us against the world card.
