We have to show we can actually beat top teams. Right now we are good, but there are some deficiencies we need to address. The top being our ability to score inside the paint, especially when we run into 7 ft centers.

Also our FG% is 40.71% which puts us at 307th in the country. Not exactly a stat a top 5 team has.

We have potentially a very outstanding team. If we win like we're capable of, top 5 and higher will take care of itself.
We could have won both games with better shooting, among other factors. If we had, then we'd likely be #1 now. We didn't so we dropped a little (and water's wet). We'll still have a good shot at the top spot later in the season.

You get to the top by actually winning games, not playing them.

It really doesn't matter too much about the ranking this early in regard to the tournament. My best example for Vols to navigate to Final 4, would be the LSU women's team last year, a team the Lady Vols beat in the SECC Tournament. They dodged teams that they could not beat by other teams knocking them out (USCe) for 1 . We will be out whenever we face a team with a dynamic 7 footer, if we dodge that kryptonite by other teams knocking those out, we could make it to Final 4.

Just be happy the VOLS are in the Top Team conversations this time of year. Long season and a lot can happen. It's where you're ranked in March that Matters!

Don’t really care much about rankings in November. Hopefully we can continue to mesh together, shoot better, develop a low post game, and ZZ gets healthy as we go. I’m excited to see how we improve. We’ll probably look a bit different by March.

Would be a great win to get, but unless their big man gets a stomach bug along with a couple of other starters, I'm not seeing it. Road wins are tough. To go into Chapel Hill and win against a blue blood like that....nah. That's expecting way too much from a team that's still hasn't gelled.
