Young people have a higher metabolism, but these guys are working out, practicing and then just being active. They burn more calories sleeping for a night than I do in a week now.

Body builders don’t even take in that much. Usually it’s broken into 6 meals a day of the roughly 30-40 grams of protein so that your body isn’t adding unnecessary fat.

6,000 to 7,000 calories a day is not normal lol not for anyone.

For reference Pro Lineman try to eat a gram of protein per lb they weigh. They also eat around 3500 - 5000 calories.

So I would say Cooper is over the intake they want him to be at. Atleast in this video.

Body builders don’t burn nearly as many calories as an OL in training camp. Considering he’s lost weight since practice began, he’s definitely not overeating. The nutritionist in the video bragged on Cooper and said he did a great job in managing his intake.

I waited tables and washed dishes at Gibbs for about 3 years somewhere around 1977. Before the jock dorms were forced to allow regular students in there. Worked minimum of 5 meals a week, and all weekend every other weekend. This was just after Majors came back.

It was a sweet gig - I got $20 a week taken out of my paycheck and got to eat every meal there, even when I wasn't working. Better yet, the cooks and potwashers were tight with the waiters, and we had full access to the fridge and dining room even when it was locked to the team. I could spread my books out in a deserted cafeteria, study, run get a chocolate milk out of the fridge. Sunday night during football season, only the football team got supper. Steak and Lobster if they won, beenie weenies if they lost.

Got to witness Coach Majors coming in on a Saturday afternoon after he'd been fishing with his buddies and drop off his fish for the cooks to clean for him. One day when I was in there by myself studying, he asked me to get him an apple out of the fridge and he sat there and ate it at the table I was sprawled out on. Had a good 10 minute conversation with him, just the two of us, nobody else in there. Great memories. Hope my Dad appreciated that he didn't have to buy the normal "Meal Plan" for me.

Damn Doc..thanks.

Never want to spread misinformation...i was way off. Google says a chicken breast is about 45 grams of protein. Dont know how i remembered that as 10g each somehow. GO VOLS

Edit: question for you...

Most protein foods/drinks now use whey protein which comes from milk right? Some of them still use soy for protein and as fillers though. I read something about how mens bodies can actually process soy into estrogen though..which would obviously be harmful for a man to have in his system as it counters testosterone.... is that true about soy? Is all of it metabolized into estrogen? Seems like men who lift weights etc would need to avoid soy then if at all possible$?

These guys are eating every two hours. Of course it's not normal. I think theres video of JJ Watts showing his daily intake which was like 9k. You can see similar videos from players (linemen) & strongman contenders. 6-7k is very realistic at this level and his intake is probably on par with most NFL/upper tier SEC linemen.

All good, bud. I was just clarifying for the meatheads in the forum.

Soy is a hot debate (and has been for a long time). It's very complicated. In short: yes, it contains a plant type of estrogen. However, most studies have not concluded that it decreases testosterone or has significant estrogenic effects on the body. I think it is fine to consume a mix of whey and soy, but I probably wouldn't want to eat huge amounts of soy or use it as my primary protein source.
