Vols fans who are also Titans fans

The Titans have made some dumb moves lately but this one takes the cake. If Hooker didn’t have superior production to Levis and hadn’t been talked about as the third-best QB in the draft by some NFL execs and former players, if he didn’t have a comparable arm (according to one scout widely quoted) and vastly superior running ability, it would be different. Teams take players all the time in part because of their local connection to the team; for the Titans to completely disregard that along with Hooker’s talent and production, in favor of a marginal QB from a rival to the Vols, is colossally tone deaf. Titans ownership seems to think their fans will be there no matter what. Like others on here, I would have been a Titans fan had they drafted HH. Now they can pound sand.

It’s not about local ties or loyalty. That’s silly. The nfl is a business. It’s about the fact that Levis is trash. One more reason to be done with the nfl.

I do wonder if Strunk has badly misread the situation in Tennessee. A lot of people are opposed to the public funding of the stadium despite how their reps voted and now the Titans have made the absolute most polarizing draft decision that could possibly be made. The post above about there being only one football team in this state and it wears orange is not that far off. I wonder if Strunk understands the Titans will always play second fiddle to the Vols. Put another way, the Titans could never fill 100,000 seats in Neyland Stadium no matter how good the team is.

You misread my post. I didn’t say they should have drafted HH even if he weren’t as good as Levis; I said they should have because he’s better than Levis and has a Tennessee connection. Maybe just maybe one or two Tennesseans might have bought tickets had they drafted HH but won’t because they took Levis, you think? Several folks just on this thread have said as much. That’s the other part of the business angle, and teams do it all the time.

I think teams are more concerned with championships than selling a few extra tickets due to local connections. With that said, I think they missed the mark. I’m no scout but I’ve just never seen the Levis hype. Suppose time will tell.

I don't think the Titans are concerned with championships or selling tickets.

I posted this in the other thread :

Alright. All you zombie Houston Oilers fans can go burn your titans gear now. Levis. Your team is infected. Uhhh.

And it’s ok, your Dad’s Falcons/Cowboys/Steelers gear is still in that trunk in the attic- go put that back on. :)

And further - I hate the Titans being in Tennessee. This state should be solely about the Vols.
I - and a lot of people - wish they hadn’t agreed to that stupid stadium. The sooner they pack up and move that franchise to Montreal the better.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

The Titans are a poorly run franchise and have one redeeming quality in Vrabel. It’s a franchise for storied teams and/or teams with fans who like the NFL more than college (GB, Buffalo, Steelers, etc) to have a chance to attend a game they can’t get a ticket to at home and a nice weekend trip to Nashville, since the Titans fans don’t represent that well and it’s an easy ticket. I say that as a Titans fan.

The company I work for has season tickets to the Titans that they give as rewards to employees for attendance, quality, etc. the last two seasons we had several games that they weren’t even used because no one wanted them. They love getting UT tickets though.
They didn’t want to see the oh so generous Kroger company donate $100 for every sack? I don’t think they crossed $500 last year
