Hey guy,s I called this back on12/1/18 in a thread about Hugh Freeze being hired and announced after the SECCG.

"I wonder why they are waiting till after Ga loses? How would our OC have any effect on Ga?"

People that know, have figured it out, Kirby is not placing a NC in the trophy case in Athens especially if he trots out Fromm as QB in year 3.

I understand Fields wants playing time. Ur earlier post gave the impression players were sick of Kirby and transferring etc. Was curious who?

Vols are on the books now:
1) We are coming for your best recruits
2) We are going to hire the best coaches; that means we will steal them if we have to.
3) We are tired of being DAL (dead ass last)
4) If the above doesn’t work; then we will breed our rivals out.
5) V-O-L-S!

Cheney's chokes are long and distinguished. Crap, I doubt if UGa would've beaten Fla this year without all of Florida's turnovers....

He's not elite, but I guess he's the best we could get at this time. I just don't expect him to develop an offense that will win the SEC championship.
And it hasn't been just one game like the Memphis debacle under Cutcliffe. Jim Cheney is NO David Cutcliffe....

The vids are all out there on Youtube if you want to actually take the time to watch him... CJP had him stymied this past season for a while with absolutely NOTHING of a defense.

I think Pruitt is an excellent coach and was a great hire for you guys. His work as a DC at FSU, UGA and Bama was great. He was creative with his schemes and was excellent at adapting his scheme to his best personnel.

I am not saying Chaney is a bad hire for you. He will do a good job. However, he has a ceiling. I have read this board for years. I know the passion you guys have and the desire for a national championship. All I was trying to communicate was that Chaney will get you part of the way to where you want to go, but you will need the next OC to get to that elite strata you are going for.

I am not trying to be passive aggressive or but hurt as others have said. I was trying to have a reasonable debate. I have several family members and friends who are UT grads. I therefore like to keep up with the UT team.

I see your point. You have no reason to trust my opinion. However, I was just trying to give a different perspective. Chaney is a good OC, and I thank him for his time at UGA, but I just don’t think he can get you where you want your program to be. Chaney has failed to make adjustments. At LSU, he failed to make adjustments when LSU disguised coverages pre-snap and Fromm struggled. Likewise, in both Bama games, we scored exactly 7 points in each third quarter and none in the fourth quarter. Chaney tried to kill the clock with 8 minutes left in the third. That is never a good plan.

He will help you guys. He will get you back in the top 15, but he will falter against the elite defenses. 3 years from now, I think you will agree.

How do you know the milking of the clock didn't come from Smart? Unless you are a insider on the coaching staff there is no way to know if Chaney went conservative or was directed to go conservative. Either way, the offense scored enough in the National Championship game and the SEC championship game to win both and the defense let you down. There really can be an argument made that UGA could have and probably should have won 1 or both of those games. Who takes the wins and loses on their record? That would be Smart. From the looks of things he was not showing Chaney the door and from reports was trying to outbid us for his services.
