Knoxville's finest,

Forsythe has been one of the few bright spots this season. Here's mine:

1.Polk
2.Liles
3.Davis
4.Lockwood
5.Forsythe
6.Hawn
7.Brown
8.Horne
9.Osborne

I know, I like putting a good bat in the 9th spot. I rather have a man on then 2 outs when the top of the lineup comes around. The team is not getting timely hits. I know hawn and horne are good hitters but their gonna get to many outside, breaking balls, and offspeed in the 4th spot. We are right with lockwood being in the 4th spot.

I was at the game and that's probably the worst effort I've ever seen put forth from our team. It didn't look like the players even cared to be playing. Our offense looks awful right now...we haven't scored more than 5 runs in a game this year yet. Our cleanup hitter Hawn can't knock in runners in scoring position, popping out to shallow center with runners on 2nd and 3rd 1 out and grounding into a double play with the bases loaded 1 out. The other new guy Horne hits soft ground balls about every time he bats and is in the 5 hole. I hope Raleigh's assumption that Hawn helps KD works out because right now it's not. He gets pitched around a ton and today Hawn failed miserably in big situations. I realize we're only 3 games through, but the midweek plague seems to have not gone away. It's almost as if we don't care about the games and it's like we don't even expect to win them.

Austin Peay was 0-4 after a 4 game sweep against LAMAR, and we just got owned by them. Absolutely pathetic in my opinion!

58 I hear your concerns but baseball is a funny game.....one game you look like the chump but next game you're the champ. The way you described our hitting today shows the characteristics of an early season.
Watching the Sat. game via web video I liked what I seen against a quality OSU pitching staff as far as hitting.
What concerns me is our bullpen.....pitching needs to be strong or needs to be NEXT LEVEL (as Tony B says) early in the season.

Guys I know that Raleigh has his picks and for heavens sakes I do not know what he's thinking. I set through most of the fall series games, several of the spring intersquads and talk with the players and I don't understand why he hasn't got Grisham, the only experienced mid fielder in the games yet. He is the only starter from last years team that hasn't seen the field. Not one of the current infield starters are pulling their weight hitting and some are apparant out of their element stepping into such a large stage and simply need the year to mature. I personally witnessed him out hit most of his teammates during the fall and into the spring and my sources tell me he continues to out hit them during practice intersquads. I don't know what he would have done to slip so far behind the players Raleigh is attempting to play in front of him but I will take a seasoned guy over a rookie anyday.

Yeah no doubt grisham is a great player. I think he is left out do to the fact he is not a power hitter. I think he hasnt seen the fiel due to its early and I think he wanted the new guys to his alot of at bats. I think its very possible he takes osbornes spot.

Osborne's a pretty good fielder, but his hitting isn't even close to where it needs to be for him to be the leadoff hitter. With him having not much power due to his short stature, he needs to hit line drives and hit the ball into the ground. Instead, he hits very high fly balls and doesn't get on base. That's not what a leadoff hitter does. I think Grisham may need to replace him if his hitting doesn't pick up.

Hawn was awful today. He was 0-5, grounded into a DP with the bases loaded 1 out and popped up to shallow center with men on 2nd and 3rd 1 out. Not what a cleanup hitter is supposed to do...they're supposed to drive in runs. He may need to drop in the lineup if he can't help protect KD because he's not doing very well with it right now.

There's no bright side to losing to an 0-4 AP team that was swept by Lamar. Nothing good to take away from such an embarrassment

It is definitely embarrassing on it's own merit and it surely isn't going to help confidence or team morale.
