Putting Nebraska on the schedule is very cool. Hope I'm still alive when it happens!! :eek:k:

I salute Hamilton and Fulmer. Unlike Bama and Auburn here in Alabama, we don't load our schedule with Patsy's.

I know that UT is the only SEC team that never schedules a 1-AA opponent, so it has been a very long time.

I believe we played Pacific in 89 or 90. :banghead:
I remember the Pacific game. I don't think it was that long ago. Wasn't Walt Harris a factor in scheduling that game?

true, but the game isn't for a while, who knows how good or bad they may be...plus they look to be on the up tick lately...many have them playing for the big 12 title this year....

Pacific was D-1. Akron was 1-AA when we played them in 1989.

Oh, and the Pacific game was in 1990. That was the game where Chuck Webb got hurt.

Yea, it a horrible day when we lost Webb. Who knows what all he could have done in his college and pro career???

I've said it before, Bo Jackson is the only back I've seen live who was better than Chuck Webb. Webb was better than Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders. I'm not saying he would have had a better career than those two, but I bet if you ask the SEC defensive players who played against Webb and Smith in '89 who was better, they'll tell you Chuck was the man.

Agreed. Could've been one of the all time greatest.

For the Record, Tennessee is 0-2 all-time against Nebraska.

1997 Orange Bowl L 17-42
1999 Fiesta Bowl L 31-21

i don't think any one on here has forgotten either one of them..........they may have just blocked them out.

The '98 Orange Bowl was sickening. Tennesse was better than Nebraska in the '99 season, they should have beaten them in the Fiesta Bowl. Although in '99, Tennessee was better than every team they played that year.

I think most people thought UT had a legitimate shot and getting back to the NC game in 99. That Florida game in 99 was about the most disappointing game I've ever watched as a UT fan.

The local sportstalk 1430 the buzz....their only comment on this match up was its so far in the future who cares? I like the match up, its a program with a tradition of excellence and I think you are who you play in college football.

I'm hard pressed to find a game that hurt more than that one. Mainly because we lost to UF in Gainesville AGAIN, and I was there AGAIN to witness it.

I vowed after that game that I would never go back to Gainesville, and I haven't.

They lived up to their reputation that night.

In my humble opinion, the 9-6 loss to Alabama in '90 was far worse.

9-6 was horrible, no doubt.

I wasn't at that game, though.

There's something about a 10 hour + drive after a loss like the one in '99 that makes it a little worse for me, personally.
