Thats not really a position of need is it? I would think the one position on defense we do not need help is Edge. He would be a luxury. We need a DT or SDE maybe some depth at will or safety?
If we could take him and maybe slide one of our current EDGE guys over to DT, Will, or Safety, I'll take it...or maybe he's interested in expanding his skill set and moving spots.

Agree. Compared to the WR room, we're in better shape at Edge. We'll see if Heupel kicks the tires on this dude. Just doesn't sound like we are really set up to go deep in the portal this year. We got Moe and now Jefferson, definitely positions of need.

How do you figure? We don’t have a single player on the team who has made an impact as a full time slot guy. I don’t think we even know who they’ll try to use in the slot.
We have 2 provenish guys on the outside. Matthews and Brazzel both of who can also play slot. At the slot we have Staley, Boo and now Jefferson. Of the incoming guys we have 1 outside guy 1 slot guy and another that's probably gonna redshirt. Thing is you need 2 guys outside and one in the slot... and by slot guys I mean guys that are make things happen in space guys not deep over the top guys. or possession guys. We have 3 guys that are 6ish foot 190-200lb guys they are all fast but not blazers more shifty they are all built more like RB's than WR's. There might not seem to be a huge difference between 5'10 6 feet and 6'2 but that wingspan adds up and equals catch radius.. the difference between an overthrow and a drop. I just feel like we need to be going after things we don't have not adding more of what we already have plenty of.

what skillset does Jefferson bring that we don't already have 4 others guys that can replicate it? We need to be looking for the next Thornton or Bru that type of skillset. Brazzell might be able to be a bit of Thornton. Then again this staff knows what they want better than I do so lets see how it plays out. I don't bet against CJH.

I certainly hope Pope changes his philosophy on the wr rotations. We need
to get some of the younger players into the rotation so they don't jump
ship next season (Amari, Jadarious, etc) (sorry if I spelled name wrong)

Brazzell is a totally different style of athlete than Thornton. I’d hardly call Matthews “provenish.” At this point you just get the best receivers you can and sort it out. We aren’t set anywhere.

Funny how we love 'em when they come to us, but crucify them when they leave us...or even (possibly) talk to other schools. Tennessee wasn't this guy's first choice, and he's doing to Bama what so many others are doing to us, so what makes him such a great catch? Isn't he just playing that game, too? Who's to say he won't leave us at the end of next season? And what did he do this season that was so impressive, given he didn't play in a single game?
