Vols living out of state and conference, do you root for the local team?

Seems like it would be easier if the local team is NOT (1) another SEC team, or (2) someone annoying (OSU, MI, etc.).

I'd probably have to pull for Army against the Vols.
I was enrolled at UT looking towards graduation when I began investigating military service to become a pilot. I didn’t care what I flew, I just wanted to fly. Given that my father was USAAF/USAF, I started with the USAF. The recruiter told me that only academy grads got flight training. Army recruiters told me that they weren’t taking anyone for flight training. Navy recruiter hounded me to go OCS instead of ACS, but I wanted to fly. I told him that if I didn’t make the cut, I’d serve in whatever capacity, but I wanted ACS. Even went to the Coast Guard recruiter. He told me that the USCG picked up all their pilots from involuntary discharges out of the Navy. They weren’t training anybody. I aged out before recruiters’ dispositions changed.

I dropped my warrant packet to fly back in 2015. Scored pretty well on the SIFT. I needed a couple of waivers though (age, TIS). Didn't get picked up.

I should have re-applied (like my pilot buddy suggested) as basically everyone got accepted the next wave.

Picked this up today. It's their minor league team owned by the Rockies so there's a little UT connection with Helton. You can get even more pedantic and cite the connection between Oak Ridge and Los Alamos. I think it's a fun team name and logo.
