Vols NCAA Tourney Thread

Let us digress. The Vols actually MADE the tourney this year. Lose in the first round and this is still a highly successful season for Tennessee. So chin up, guys.

your really talking to the wrong group. Once their chins are down, they want everyone fired and the team is no longer good. they wont win another game and Pearl doesnt know how to coach.

like I said, we sound like indiana fans, and the way yall talk, were going to run pearl out of the city. just like indiana did to davis, and just like we already did to so many coaches. I think we are the only 21-7 team that is going to get a 4 seed that thinks we suck and wont get even to the sweet 16. Our fans truly suck.

No, you're delusionally optimistic. First, Mike Davis is getting exactly what he deserves. He missed the tournament two straight years at Indiana. That means he, in the previous 2 years, missed the tournament more times than Indiana had in the previous 23 years. He stinks, and when Ole Miss or someone else in the south hires him, that will be one more team for Pearl to beat up on. Nobody has called for Pearl's head or said this team sucks. Some of us are simply capable of objectivity. You, on the other hand, treat reasoned analysis as anathema. It appears if someone doesn't blindly agree that UT is great and will roll to the Sweet Sixteen they are obviously negative and wish ill to befall the program. Also, if I had anything to do with the dismissals of Wade Houston, Jerry Green, or Buzz Peterson, I would consider those among the most cherished accomplishments of my life.

Im pretty sure I heard some people on vols calls last night calling for pearls head. and trust me, Davis is not getting what he deserves. a final four apperance, then two times out of the tourney, and now he is taking them back, and is the hottest team in the big 10. apperantly he is getting what he deserves.

Ohio State is the Big Ten champion. I'd say they've been pretty hot. IU lost to the likes of Penn State and Minnesota this year. They didn't start playing well until Davis announced he was leaving. He got the IU job the only way someone with his flimsy resume could, by default. Letting him coach at one of the Rolls Royce programs is like letting a pre-schooler finger paint on the Mona Lisa.

Depends on matchups. In '92, Cincinnati beat Memphis four times on the way to the Final Four. In Michigan State's championship run with Mateen Cleaves, they beat Wisconsin four times, including the ugliest game in Final Four history.

very true. but with a system team like we have. It is nearly impossible to beat a team 3 times in one year. I think thats were i was trying to go with that comment.

13 or 14 seed for SEC? I thought major conference teams never got lower than a 12 seed and that 16 - 13's were usually reserved for bubble teams from mid-majors and winners of weak conferences.

I agree with a lot of what hatvol says, but not necessarily how he says it.

There is NO CHANCE UT gets a 7

As for someone saying this UT team gets to the sweet 16 indefinitely, you probably are a little too confident and know a little less than necessary to make that prediction.

Tennessee did not play well over the last 2 weeks with Lofton and Watson, so what makes you assume they'll make a deep run? Point to the middle of the season as your case if you want, but our team's mystery is gone. Stop Lofton or make him stand around and you'll win the majority of the time.

This team CAN go to the Sweet 16 AND BEYOND if the offense improves and our press does the job. If we play someone like Georgetown in Round 2, we're done. We have no inside game, and if we play someone who has a better one, we're in trouble.
