Many many times we did rush that many and they would get picked up.Watch that game to see how to handle opposing teams on third and long. ND is rushing five or six every time, none of that stupid lay back and let them get 15-20 yards. Tennessee's weakness.
Send this game film to the Kentucky staff - they think you can only rush 3 when you’re up by 5 late in the 4th quarterWatch that game to see how to handle opposing teams on third and long. How many times have we seen Tennessee rush only three and give up 20+ yards? Far more often than when we brought the heat. If you put a hard rush on the quarterback he only has about two seconds to throw. How far can a receiver get down the field in two seconds from a dead start and if you bump them at the line?Yup. Rush 5 or 6 and don't get to the QB in time, you're probably giving up a 20+ yard play.
Especially if you play zone on the back end... if you don't get to the QB, there are big holes in the zone to throw to.Yup. Rush 5 or 6 and don't get to the QB in time, you're probably giving up a 20+ yard play.
Just watched Kentucky get beat because they started "setting back and playing soft". They started rushing three and putting NO pressure on the quarterback. With only 50 seconds to go Clemson went 50 yards.
To be fair to them, they reason they lost is more about the 3 turnovers inside their own 30 on 3 straight drives to start the 4th quarter than anything else.John Madden said "the prevent defense, prevents you from winning"
