Vols on Verge of Locking up #3 seed in East

It mattered only when we were hunting a 1 seed.

Exactly. UT has an at large locked up. they are not getting a #1 or #2 seed, thats a fact.

So playing 4 straight days and stretching an already thin roster is not worth it, when the difference between going out in the 1st/2nd round or winning the tournament MIGHT move you from a 5 to a 4.

Take the rest, and hit the tourney fresh. JMO.

You are up late; can't sleep?

What do you play?

Several instruments, but I play guitar on a regular basis. I played solo acoustic tonight, just for some extra cash. Mostly just the normal bar music, ranging from country and classic/southern rock. I song write with a girl also, who is starting to get her recognition after putting her dues in. (in the country genre)

We have a small demo session for Sony BMG and Mercury March 20th, which will be interesting. Though I'm not sure I want to quit and go on the road should that be available. I would rather try to continue the writing route and cash the checks.

If Pearl does decide to play to win the games in the SEC tourney, I'd rather get KY than Vandy at home in the semis (assuming they make it that far).

Wait...why are we actually debating whether or not we should TRY to win the SEC tourney? What is this, the NFL? Momentum is absolutely HUGE in college basketball. I say we keep the throttle on and ride this wave as long as we can.

Let’s say we win the final regular season games. In your opinion, what is the difference in our seed if we lose our 1st SEC Tourney game compared to if we lose in the SECCG?

Not always about seeding. It's about momentum.

You missed the premise of my question.
To answer your question, I don't think losing generates any momentum whether it is the opening round of the tourney or the final game.

It's definitely an interesting debate because I can see both sides. I just think we would gain more by winning the tournament than we would by resting. Or to look at another way, I think we have more to lose by not trying at all than we do if we go out and try to win at least a couple games.

A loss in the SEC championship would certainly be heartbreaking, but I'm just very leery packing it in and resting guys for the NCAA tourney.

Not really true

the year we made it to the sweet 16 and just lost by a point to OSU we were eliminated in the first round of the SECT by LSU

one could argue too that in collebe bball it's as much about having your team rested and not tired when the tourney starts too

What kind of momentum would a lose in the SECCG give us?

that's like what 3 straight days of playing games in a row?

I dont see that doing anything honestly other than tiring out a team before tourney; especially since our conference tourney always lasts a day later than everyone else's

We are going to be in the 3-5 range. If we ran the table including the tourney we get a 3 seed for sure. Probably the same if you lose the SECCG. However, run the table with a first round exit in SEC tourney may result in 4 seed. If we lose to MSU or Arkansas and have an early exit in the SEC Tourney we will most likely be a 4 to 5 seed most likely.
