Maybe it’s time for him to shut it down and get ready for the NFL. He’s not been very productive in the two games he played after coming back and he seemed hurt during the Georgia game.Josh Heupel is Noncommittal but Optimistic For Cedric Tillman's Status Against South Carolina | Rocky Top Insider
"Despite saying that Tillman will be “ready to go” this Saturday against South Carolina, Heupel was a little more noncommittal on Monday, yet still hopeful and optimistic.
“Obviously, it’s just Monday for us but as the week unfolds, we believe he’ll have the ability to play in this one,” Heupel said about Tillman on Monday. “We’ll always evaluate it on the back half of the week.”
Heupel’s mention of an evaluation on Monday leads to believe that the ankle injury could be flaring back up. However, Heupel said that the ankle wasn’t the point of concern on Saturday, which muddies the water a little bit."

Knee pads are required but "Knee pads must be covered by pants. Furthermore, the pants and knee pads are recommended to cover the knees. No pads or protective equipment may be worn outside the pants."
Why do football players not wear knee pads? - Sportslar
"A study was conducted by the University of Florida, in which players were subjected to knee injuries while wearing knee pads and without them. The results showed that players were less likely to get injured with their knees if they weren’t wearing any knee pads."
What’s the deal with Georgia players no longer wearing knee pads?
From 2018:
"The protection of the knee cap is a matter that is going to be directly addressed by the NCAA this season. In a memo sent on Jan. 3, football rules committee secretary Steve Shaw informed conference commissioners, football coaches and coordinators of officials that Rule 1-4-4-d, which requires that all players wear knee pads, is going to be “vigorously” enforced in 2018.
First, a little background. That rule has been in place, well, forever. And, believe it or not, it is being adhered to even by today’s athletes. If you look closely, you’ll note that the players who wear football pants that don’t cover their knees technically are wearing knee pads. They’re there. They’re just tiny and do not come anywhere close to covering the knee. Thus, they’re abiding by the rule.
But that’s where the rule will be applied differently this season. Shaw expressly emphasizes (in bold print, no less) that, starting in 2018, the pants and knee pads “must cover the knees.”
Some believe Kentucky’s Stanley “Boom” Williams started the high-pants trend in the SEC. (File)
Yeah, but what about their Football Players?....."A study was conducted by the University of Florida, in which players were subjected to knee injuries while wearing knee pads and without them.
