Vols ranked 11th on Rivals

I agree the coaches did a great job with what they had, but the events of the last few weeks with recruiting indicates a poorer class than expected. It's not being negative, it's being realistic. In the meantime, Bama and Florida keep raking them in.:furious3:
:hi:here is something to look at( scout recruiting ) has top100 recruist fla with 5 ala 4 tenn 4. 5star players fla2 ala 3 tn 1. 4 star players fla 14, als 12, tn 8. 3 star players fla 5, ala 9, tn 10, total players committed fla 21, ala 24, tn 19. Our #' are very good. by the time we get hopefully 28 quallity players and their are several 4 star a couple 5 star. some great JRc transferrs. If we total 28 good players we are back!

UT can easily finish within the top 5.

Several big name prospects still out there to be had...and a commitment isn't a commitment until NSD.

I would bet the coaches are in tight with a couple of good ones that we know nothing about....GO VOLS

Indeed, recruiting sites only know so much...Easley to Florida wasn't seen coming...we will do the same with at least 1 big name.

I don't remember the exact numbers but last year UT moved up 5 or 6 spots AFTER national signing day by swinging Jackson, Oku, and Brown. With a month to go prior to NSD I'm not worried yet. That said, it has been a tough month.

It is not negativity when it is realistic.

As opposed to ultra-manly blowhards who'll argue an incorrect point so emphatically, despite all evidence to the contrary.

This is a perfect example of why so many posters seem so "negative" to you. Ridiculous, baseless statements with an ignorance to what is actually happening. How do you know? Because we did last year? Circumstances are entirely different this year.

We will not. Let's just hope Kiffin and crew can coach up what we have.
We lost one four star player and dropped quite a few spots in the rankings. We are in on a lot of four star prospects and maybe have a very small outside shot at a five star commit. Several of these guys are coming in for a visit on the 15th and you can bet we sign quite a few of them. Willis was a loss but freaking out over recruits like Jose Jose and Ken Adams is just stupid. If anything we will fill those spots with better recruits.

You havent been following recruiting very long, have you?

The last month is the MOST important of any time during the recruiting phase....and we have great closers as coaches (evidenced by last years haul).

UT will finish with a Top 10 class, no question.

You don't seem to understand recruiting, do you?

If the last month is the "MOST" important month in recruiting, why do the top 2 schools in the Rivals poll (Texas and 'Bama) have their highest-rated guys committed many months in advance?

Look for yourself:

Alabama Commit List for 2010

Check the commitment dates.

Next go to the Rivals main page. Check out the top 10 at each position. In most every case, 8-10 of the top ten are already committed. Who are we going to get?

And as for these "closers" you mention, all I see is UT losing their commitments and supposed 'locks'. And every day, another current UT commit seems to be looking elsewhere. (Does anyone think we keep Ambles and Taylor?)

Besides Willis, we have lost no one we wanted. Ambles is very solid. Taylor may look around, but I can't see him leaving...

We don't have the luxury of a Texas and force 20 awesome in-state prospects to commit to us on Junior Day. We have to work for what we get...

You think it's bad at UT? Wait till you see what is fixing to happen at UF. Elam is already gone. Brown, Dorsey, and Riggs are on the way out...

I sure hope so. We need playmakers. Badly.

Yes, but despite the craziness that happened over the holidays at UF, they still got new commitments. We've seemingly stagnated, no?

Well we are up to 7th now and i think we will be top 5 by NSD if not i will be happy to be in the top 12. ranking isn't everything. Sure i would rather be at the top but i have faith if we give this staff the time they will suceed, and help bring ut near the top again>

We have not stagnated. There is a reason that Kiffin wanted the plane tracker down. Why do we need surprise recruits every year? Because when kids announce for us there is constant in state pressure to switch. Also sometimes their dream team sees that we love them and decides to make a play for them. That happened with Cobbs and Texas and it is happening with some of the Cali guys we are after and USC.

I think of any school, UGA is going to fall apart most class wise, and Florida will fall apart second most. That is huge for us. Next year we should only be playing 2-3 teams that have more talent than we do (arguable if you count Oregon in that mix) and by the next full recruiting class in 2011 we should have very little talent disparity.

Think about JuWuan James, Chaz Green, a beefed up and coached up Fulton, Marques Pair and Shon Coleman on a line and compare it to this year, when we had two walk ons and zero first round NFL O linemen. The above group is at least 2.

Because of a lack of in state talent, TN has to get guys out of the backyard of rivals. The best way to do that in many cases is to keep it quiet. Janzen would have hated life if there was still a chance for him to change his mind because he came out in an orange hat in December. We will probably have the most NSD shockers of any school and we will all be happy. Look for good news from places like Texas and California and Florida and also look for some of the switches we have been talking about forever, guys like G Smith, Quarles, S Coleman.

Were back up to 7th on Rivals now, people freak out way to easy about us dropping & rising with our class. Their is still a month left until NSD, we are going to add some more quality players. We WILL finish with a top 10 class & could be real close to a top 5 close.

that tells you the difference between 7th and a 11th ranked class....when one player makes a team jump 4 spots...trust me a top 15 class is very good...

No its not its decent but if your in the sec you have to be top 10 every year to have a shot to go to Atlanta imo

nice post

That is ridiculous, so you are telling me that the difference in UT making it to Atlanta is a single 3 star prospect???
