While perusing around Rivals today I noticed we rank 2nd in the nation in 3 position categories:

WR
#1 Texas
#2 Vols

K
#1 Auburn
#2 Vols

DE
#1 gators
#2 Vols

Here is how we are in the rest of the positions:

QB - #12
RB - (not ranked in top 30 teams)
TE - (not ranked in top 30 teams)
OL - #19 - Dropped to 20th
DT - #8 - Dropped to 9th
LB - (not ranked in top 30 teams)
DB - (not ranked in top 30 teams)
ATH - #9 (tied w/ Texas A&M and TCU)

Just more useless info to pass the time I guess .........

That OL ranking will change massively and it will make all the difference.

Not to shabby....a few OL that we have on the short list will make this class all the more better.

As I posted elsewhere we are still pursuing 1 more WR, although we are only talking to a few 4 and 5 star guys.

K#1 Auburn
#2 Vols

DE
#1 gators
#2 Vols

We are also pursuing Stripling and Lemonier. If we get either we would have an equal class to UF, and like UF using Powell at LB, we may do the same with J Smith.

Here is how we are in the rest of the positions:

QB - #12
RB - (not ranked in top 30 teams) We may get 1 guy but that is it.
TE - (not ranked in top 30 teams)same as above
OL - #19 We should finish top 3 at this position
DT - #8 We should finish top 5 at this
LB - (not ranked in top 30 teams) if we get Christian Jones and Corey Nelson, we will be top 10
DB - (not ranked in top 30 teams) We could be top 10 here as well, if we get Dorsey and Robey plus Dixon who we just added
ATH - #9 (tied w/ Texas A&M and TCU) Blake Sims takes us higher?

Just more useless info to pass the time I guess .........

Good info. I enjoyed the read.

We will pay lots of attention to the line, and finish with an excellent class. Bray could end up being the best pro style QB in this class which is outstanding...

I think that if we get Sims that will move us up in the ATH position maybe top 3

Given what I've seen lately, Bray is better than 7th and our line will be the best any staff will do this year at meeting a need.

How can we be ranked 12 in QBs if we have the 7 pro style QB plus a solid JUCO?

You have to think about Dual threat QBs. Michigan has the number one guy. PSU has Jones. They would be bad in our system perhaps but they are ranked higher. Newton probably puts Auburn ahead. Sims at Bama puts them ahead. Heaps at BYU. Scroggins at USC. Hinder etc.

Thats good info. I have felt so down after today. I have never watched a AA game and I did to see the commits we would get and only one. I saw bama and fla eat our lunch and coaches maybe leaving again...i know I know the sky is not falling but it is good to have the perspective this thread offers. Thanks! :hi:

Given what Kiffin and Co. accomplished with Crompton I really do not care what they rank us at the QB position. I am confident he would only sign a high schooler he believes has the tools, then he will develop them.

Yeah they did that with Crompton in a year and they have Bray for four.

That is problematic. We need LBs, and we can always use DBs.

I would say I agree with that assessment.....LB has been our need since week 4.

Am I wrong or did I hear the announcers say that J Smith was hinting about wanting to get moved to LB. I think he got tired of going up against guys pushing 290lbs. It would fill a need at LB but I hate the fact that he brought this up before he even hit campus. The coaches will help him build strength and determine what is best. He weighs the about the same as all the other DE's we have.

From memory I believe we finished first in the country last year for both running backs and defensive backs but I could be off slightly but would indicate that neither of those are positions of need. Any and all have my permission to see how we finished by position last year.

We do have a problem at LB...

It's hard to believe.I'm not talking about our coaching staff not doing their job,I'm saying it's hard to believe some kid hasn't noticed that we don't have any depth at LB,and would be licking their chops to get here and get a chance to start pretty soon.
