Well he looked bad last year once conference play started. Last offseason people were optimistic, myself included, but hearing “Nico couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn again in routes against air in practice today” after watching him last year just doesn’t inspire much confidence.

Boy he had a rough go of it in SEC play. 9 TDs passing.....4 of which were against Vandy

Even against Vandy, he made an absolutely horrible throw for an interception. One of his “best” games was UTEP, when he started that game with one of the worst slant passes I have ever seen anyone make and couldn’t score in the first quarter.

He’s honestly the most disappointing aspect of UT sports right now.

What has he done to deserve defending? He was taking meetings during the season trying to get more money while he went a month without leading a scoring drive in the first half. He’s getting paid very handsomely. He can take some well-earned criticism for it.

So for the second year in a row we lost to a team playing in the final. This year we blew it, but had we not come out flat maybe we couls have. Still likely lose, but not by 19.

I liked how all the reporters said no controversy as they also shared Merk made huge strides and Nico had a bad throwing day. Lol

Not ones that were talking about transferring or listening to offers from other teams when said player seems to be sailing a lot of balls over his intended targets. Maybe it wasn’t the WR’s last year maybe it’s our generational talent at QB. He is the highest paid player on the team so it would be nice to show out like it.

JG started getting it bad when he lost to Georgia State and BYU. But he would have gotten it bad anywhere that cared about football at that point

Nico is our Starter, I am glad for Merk to merge as the clear number 2 right now. We need someone to be ready and able. Having said that, any folks trying to play more into at this point are being silly. GBO

Lol all you have is criticism. You will be a degenerate about it all year probably. Heaven forbid the ire he will draw from you after his first incomplete pass.

Yeah, he wasn't amazing as a redshirt FRESHMAN, he had growing pains.

We went to the playoffs

We beat Florida and Bama. Gutty second half wins led by Nico himself.

Just because he got paid doesn't mean people should spout vitriol about him, especially in his first year where we beat our freaking rivals and went to the playoffs for the first time. He had a solid first year starting. Period. Of course he needs to be better.

THAT deserves defending. The negativity from our fanbase currently is astoundingly asinine.
