Vols Spring Practice #11

Truth be told, we've been getting him for pretty cheap. He's on his original contract with only a roll over. Even though we've been winning and defense has improved dramatically year after year, he's not received raises or extensions like the rest of the staff.....I wonder why, especially since he's probably had one of the toughest jobs and Heupel has the best defense he's ever had as a head coach.

Even Lane Kiffin gave his DC a raise after their 11-2 season and the defense wasn't as good as ours for our 11-2 season. Kiffin ain't crazy, he knows how hard his DC has to work to help them win......😁.... we haven't got there yet....as a fan base or administration.
What ever you are high on. I’d like some please.

What's doing on with Ethan Davis? Had high hopes for him this year and not much said about him.
Go over to utsports.com and see the Apr 6th interview of TE Coach Abeln. On Ethan Davis, he said something like, he's bigger and stronger having gotten up from 225 last year to about 242 now. Said he is much more comfortable in our system than last year. And that he's got so much twitch and pop ... "he's gonna be really really good."

But meanwhile, new guys Staes and Kitselman have been looking good, so, we'll see how it all shakes out.

Lol.......I just have to assume you don't know what the going rate is now for SEC coordinators. Banks is on the lower end of pay and he has actually resurrected our defense to top 10 in half the stats that matter snd top 25 in the rest that matter.

My point was, Tennessee is saving money because he's on his same contract with no raises at all since he's been here and the going rate for coordinator has gone up alot in the past 2 years.

If Ole Miss, who runs fast paced offense, can consistently give their DC raises, even when it's not that good (their DC makes over 2 million), then we are getting Banks cheap when our defense is actually good.

Hubbs and AP have been really high on him, saying he's been really impressive so far. Sounds like he tweaked something during a scrimmage last week, so like all other projected starters, they're being careful with him. That helps because it means they're getting Staes and Kitselman plenty of reps.

I remember when I first watched Nico throw the ball. He had a really long stretch which typically creates some torque and accuracy issues. Looking at him now they’ve tightened his throwing stance. He looks good.

DLine and Linebacker are definitely looking Gooooooooddddaa. The Defense could definitely be holding their own with the high powered offense we all expect from Nico and crew. This team; Man could be really special... Make the Playoffs!!

First-year Tennessee linebackers coach William Inge said Spillman, a former four-star prospect from Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, Tenn., is "someone everyone is going to know about here in five months."
What I liked about BJM. Get your TALENT on the field SOONER. Not that mamby pamby TRUST thing. Inge seems to employ the same methodology.

Agree. We've had a few coaches that sat the more talented FR/SO....drove me crazy.
