Vols Spring Practice #8

Anyone who tells you about the offensive line and doesn’t go in order from LT to RT, is a monster
There are also two groups of Right Guards listed. and for supposedly 4 man groups, they list 5 different groups if you assume one of the Right Guards should be Left Guards who were otherwise left out.

and if they were really doing 4 man groups that presumably leaves out one of the tackle positions, but they don't specify how that was ran. Did the G-C-G stay the same and they just rotated between L-R tackles?

a lot of questions come from that quote.

"Tennessee, saw them last week. Super deep on the defensive line, deeper in the secondary than we thought they were going to be, deeper at receiver than we probably thought they were going to be. They need some injury luck on the offensive line. They need to stay healthy on the offensive line to be as good as they can be. But I feel like that’s a team that can play with anybody if Nico is as good as we think he’s going to be." On3's Andy Staples on Tennessee

I don't remember reading much on McMurray, can someone add more on him?

"He's been the most consistent player out of the new guys," Martinez told media this week. "Meaning where he's making production every day. You can see it. He's got great instincts. He's smart. He actually knows the plays before the plays are being run. Kind of like he has that knack about him, and he's been the most consistent player each day. So, it's great to see because we needed that competition to help those other developing young guys."

They're under the lights tonight in Neyland! Boy, I'd love to be there. Come Danny, open the gates, promise we'll clean up after ourselves. 🤞

I thought it was just my vivid imagination. And the guys don’t lollygag to take the rep. From day one, it didn’t seem like they had a lot of rust to work off. Very promising.
We have some of the fastest feet I have ever seen. The secondary can be lights out this year.

W@e will live or die by the performance of our OL. We just don't have the depth, and I can't figure out why we haven't attracted quality OL-men from the portal. Well, I can hope as summer approaches, this changes. NIL, where are you when it comes to OL-men?

Transfer portal addition out of Temple suppose to good in coverage and average tackler needing to add more weight to get better in that area.

Depth is made in practice and we have bodies just inexperienced, but our starters are set for next year for the most part

While your comment is true, it's also true that this is the SEC. If you want to win, you must have depth along with experience to do so.

We have a lot of experience on the OL take a look at their snap counts, you don’t fix that issue with transfer portal additions because they don’t go to schools who don’t offer starter type playing time. The depth is made up of guys they recruited out of the HS ranks and develop over time.

When you put it like that, I want to believe.
