I was talking in the context of an average fans view towards Pearl. Publics memory is short. Not saying it will happen, but if he makes a run the talk will def lighten up

Only way UT can get a bye is to win out, Florida to win at Vandy, and for Georgia to lose at least one more (vs LSU and/or @ Alabama).

In this scenario There would be a 4 way tie for 2nd. The tie-breaker would be the record vs. the teams you are tied with.
UT - 4-2
UK - 3-3
Vandy - 3-3
UGA - 2-4

If Georgia happens to lose both games, UT would still hold the tie-breaker over UK and Vandy.

What's the liklihood of this happening? I'm putting it at 10%

nobody cares and if you are smart you do not want the bye this season...the VOLS will not win 3 or 4 games in a row so they will take one loss away from the tourny anyway...being the 3 or 4 seed in the east would be best because they would get either auburn or lsu and one more guaranteed win going into the NCAA's..what you don't want is the 5 seed, then you could probably lose to Ole Miss, further hurting chances or seeding in the big dance...get realistic people and quit day dreaming

It's almost like nobody wants that 2 seed lol. After playing so poorly, it's amazing that were still in the hunt for the bye. Florida has been pretty lucky on the road this year so hopefully they can pull it off and if Alabama plays at home like they have, I think they beat Georgia too.

The most interested part of this is UK @ UT. UK sucks on the road and we just simple suck at home lol. I really hope that place is packed and rocking.

A win over LSU or Auburn helps not at all.

Finishing above UK, Georgia, and Vandy would help some.

Finishing 2nd in the division is simply better than not, for NCAA considerations and for SECT reasons.

Well I said I want the 3 seed so that would mean we finish higher than half of those teams...since we swept Vandy, they can have the 2 seed and play well, therefore making us look good in the process...and BTW, any win helps...when you have that nice round 20 win mark it can not hurt...a guarnateed win over Auburn/LSU is better than a non guaranteed game against Ole Miss or any team we we play in the 2nd round...also getting one easy game in on a court will allow us better chances to win 2 or 3 games there...the VOLS are notoriously terrible in the SEC tourny...so I would rather ease into it than get bounced before it starts

Interesting because I never really thought of it like that. I'm sure a majority of people like having the extra rest but I agree with you. UT has struggled badly in the SECT so a game against a subpar team to work out the kinks and get more familiar with the rims and stuff sounds good to me! Hasn't UT dropped two games to LSU in the SECT since Bruce took over?

those lsu teams were a little better than this years team...lol...if we lose to lsu/auburn the ncaa and nit should not invite us...

And quite frankly a loss to either at this point be very bad.

the way i read it, it still seems possible for us to get it.

First, we must win out.
Second, UGA must lose to Bama
Third, Vandy must lose to Florida

that puts all four teams at 9-7 in the conference.
by the first tie breaker, UT and UK would both have 4 east losses compared to Vandy and UGA each with 6.

So, what is the next tie breaker after that? anybody know? It would be between UT and UK. Regardless, every piece of this is VERY possible.

bunch of fools...hate that you all are vols fans..but oh well...take the 3 or 4 seed get the easy win and go on

A win vs. LSU or Auburn is meaningless. And if anything, hurts our RPI - one of the few things working in our advantage. It's stupid not to want a bye in the tournament.
