Failing to get a kick in the air against Alabama, then aiding Jason Julian in knocking the ball far enough backwards to put the Tide in field goal range isn't on my list of Vol Highlights, either.
My gut says we would have finished ahead of Ga Tech. Also, I don't think an undefeated UT team would have lost to Notre Dame. I think a team that talented would have been able to find 6 more points that day if it had been for a National Title.Even if we had still lost to Notre Dame, think how screwed up things would have been if we had won the Sugar Bowl to go 10-1-1. Colorado won a share of the National title with an identical record . .. and of course we tied them in the opener.
Chuck got to see Burke in practice every day. He didn't want to risk that stiff hitting one of his patented wormburners and have the Buffs block it and run it back. I 'll take Chuck Webb with the ball in his hands over that stooge Burke kicking it every time.If Chuck Webb cuts left and runs out of bounds instead of cuts right trying to be the hero, the Vols at least get a field goal try to beat Colorado in that first game. That would be 11-1 and Colorado definately would not have won the NC.
Scott Galyon - went to my highschool before I ever got there
S-H-A-Z-Z-O-N!!! B-R-A-D-L-E-Y!!!!
and.......
Jason Julian
Tori Noel
Jason Parker
Ernest Fields
Tracy Hayworth
Jim Miller
Raymond Austin
Pete Panuska
Floyd Miley
Alan Cockrell
Joey Clinkscales
Eric Swanson
Victor Peppers
Andre Creamer
Terry McDaniel
Muddy Waters
The offense was putrid in that game, but as muddled as the title picture was that year, if Burke makes those 2 kicks we might not have had to wait 8 more years for a National title.
I agree wtih both of you these points....that team was really good...I think you're absolutely right. The '90 team was easily the best Majors fielded.
i've never forgotten that...i still remember screaming "go out of bounds! go out of bounds!".If Chuck Webb cuts left and runs out of bounds instead of cuts right trying to be the hero, the Vols at least get a field goal try to beat Colorado in that first game. That would be 11-1 and Colorado definately would not have won the NC.
what exactly did ever contribute? he just took up a scholarship that could have been used by someone that actually could help the team.Haven't read the entire thread, so someone may have already mentioned these:
Tavio Henson
Sterling Hinton
Tommy Hutton
Jeremy Lincoln
Benji Shuler
Bobby Graham (Big catch against Memphis in '99)
Billy (William) Williams
1. Pete Panuska - My only memory of him is when he ran a kickoff back 100 yards against Maryland in the sun Bowl (I think).S-H-A-Z-Z-O-N!!! B-R-A-D-L-E-Y!!!!

I didn't say he was a world beater, I just mentioned him as someone who probably isn't one of the first players you think of when thinking of former vols. He only had a scholarship because of big bubba.what exactly did ever contribute? he just took up a scholarship that could have been used by someone that actually could help the team.

2. Bill Duff - The man!!! Stuffed Eddie Goeorge on a 4th and goal on the 1 yd. line int eh the Citrus Bowl. Does a great Hulk Hogan, too.
