Vols vs Arizona score prediction

On one hand Tennessee has held 8 of their 10 opponents to 53 points or less and on the other Arizona has scored 80+ points in 9 of their 10 games. If Aidoo is healthy, I think we have the length inside to slow down Arizona's bigs a bit, but holding their team under 70 is a high task and I don't think we are clicking well enough on offense to keep up, especially if we are down some guys. Plus, playing in their stadium with their team looking for revenge does not bode well.

Arizona - 71
Tennessee - 63

Beat them at our house last season. I expect they return the favor by about 4 pts at their house.

I'll be what looks like in the minority on this one. I think the Tobe Awaka builds on last game and balls out. Aidoo returns, and his length gives Zona problems inside. If Key and Vescovi (if he plays) shoots the 3-ball fairly well, I think we pull this out. Albeit by a small margin.

Vols - 68
Zona - 65

The defense is better than great it's elite. One of the best in the country.
Elite but ultimately you have to score to win. Elite hasn’t gotten the teams very far. I truly like Barnes and think he is a great coach he just sucks at offense his teams do. That’s why we get beat in the tournament year in and out

The ESPN matchup predictor likes Tennessee’s chances; however they have went down over the past 2 days (currently 45.4%)

NCAA game Simulator does not like Tennessee’s chances (about 25%). Also doesn’t feel confident Tennessee can keep Zona under 75 points.

Arizona gives up a bit over 75 per game……if Tennessee can somehow clamp down with their superior D without some key players they have a chance.

Really?

You mean sometimes the O sucks right? Because Tennessee’s O efficiency is 47th without having all their players except for game 1 vs Tech.

2 not good, 1 great, 3 very acceptable…..out of 351 teams

Not too sure most of those years “sucked” offensively.

This could go several different ways, will be an interesting game to watch... Not many on here giving us a chance, mainly because of the potential of JJJ and Vescovi being out. If they are both out, but Aidoo is back, I think we hang with them if we don't go cold like we usually do, but if all three play, I think we have a chance. We just can't play such a sloppy game like our last, we have to win the loose balls, minimize stupid turnovers, and make our points at the line.

The interesting part of this is the fact that their schedule so far is not that impressive... they haven't been tested or played a defense like ours yet this season. They remember last year and their coach will have them ready, but it's not the same as actually going against this type of defense in a game situation. Many will laugh with them being young kids, but the time difference may play a little into their favor as well. I don't see an opponent they've played yet on their schedule that really stressed them. That can be a big advantage.

If we were at full strength and don't have a sloppy low shooting game like Maryland, then I actually think we could roll them again.

I don't think anyone will really know how it will shape up until we see the health of our team Saturday night. I am optimistic that with the week of rest and the fact that our next game is against Austin Pea, if JJJ and Vescovi can go and want to go, I think Barnes throws them out there at least the first half to see what happens.

when they play any good team it’s been the same way since grant and admiral were here there going to have massive scoring droughts and not be able to score and have to scrap to win and then tournament hits and teams beat the defense and you lose to an inferior team. Offensive problems has always plagued them in the last 5-6 years. It’s not a lack of player talent it’s just the system that doesn’t work on a consistent basis. There should have been 1-2 final four teams in the last 5 years

Doesn’t every single team have scoring droughts? If not I guess every team is scoring like 120+ per game.

Tennessee didn’t really have to “scrap” out a win vs Kansas.

Tennessee didn’t really have to “scrap” out a win last year vs UNC……while scoring 89 points.

The year before they beat the breaks off a good Kansas team.

Even in a down year 19-20 Tennessee beat a good KY team while scoring over 80 points.

Tennessee does not have the best O; however it certainly isn’t as bad as you want to make it out to be.

There’s also only been 2 tournaments since those guys have been gone. In one of those Tennessee lost their only viable big man just before the tournament.

no most teams don’t go on a 5-7 min scoring droughts that has constantly plagued the teams. Like I said I think Barnes was a great hire he just needs to make some adjustments on offense to win the games when it matters. Barnes is by far the best coach that has been here since pearl. Defense is great but offense wins games when it’s tournament time.

The last team with Grant and Admiral lacked defensively, not offensively. Defense was 42nd; offense was 3rd. We lost to Purdue 99-94 in OT. There are YouTube videos that break down that team’s dynamic offense. I laugh at your last sentence.

Laugh all you want but when your consistently putting players in the nba and have several one and done players but can’t get to the final four with that talent, there is a problem somewhere in an aspect of the game-plan somewhere. If you think there isn’t then we definitely can agree to disagree. Those teams would have been final 4 teams at other schools.

It’s a problem that has plagued Tennessee for a long time. Go back to the Jerry Green Day’s when Vincent Y and Isaiah victor were here and they couldn’t get to the final 4 then either. Pearl would have likely gotten us there but had to go to the dang bbq
