Vols vs. Auburn Game Thread - 1pm EST Raycom

I just don't understand why Hopson didn't see many minutes in the second half.

Me neither man. Tatum was atrocious today and Hopson really seemed to have it going from downtown.

Not sure why Tabb didn't come in to play defense at the end either.

how are 4 guys goin to cover 5 with 10 seconds left and absolute melee goin on after the throw in we lost by 1 point yes it hurts but its basketball its going to happen i bet maybe 2 of you have ever even played competive so your words mean nothing if we won the game everyone would be all happy and not saying anything

I need to be a head coach, Because all you have to do is win 50-60% of your games, and you make millions. I could coach as good as Pearl this yr. Just goes to show you, we should have kept Buzz Peterson, "Pearls team" is not what I would call good.

Maybe you should sit the next couple of plays out.

What the %*$! was Tatum doing playing basically the whole last 10 minutes of the half? Him, JP, and Brian lost this game for us easily.

Tennessee is barely in this game if it weren't for JP. You have no idea what you're talking about. He's the only person on our team that can make the pass he made to Tyler that put us up 77-76. He hit shots, hit free throws, and created offensively in the 2nd half when no one else was doing anything.

18 points 7 assists while shooting 5-7 from the field and 8-9 from the free throw line is hardly someone that "cost us the game".

It's becoming apparent that the better JP plays, the better we play offensively and the "JP haters" are going to have to get off of his nuts eventually as the scape goat.

Blame Bruce for a lot of things, but I'm wondering if you actually were watching the game and saw what happened.

We never should have let the game get into that situation, but the final sequence was just dumb luck. They choke at the foul line, but an ugly miss bounds back to them. Then, they nearly throw it away and end up with a 5 on 4.

And Prince should have passed the ball.

And, we still don't know when to give it up when we have numbers on a fast break.

Dude...When is the last time you had a period.

This is BULLSH*T! Im sick of watching this team, I mean we go see Pat with ALL FRESHMEN, and still can stay in the top 25, and this team of the Great Pearl cant stay in the top 80.....of course who could coach a group of individuals...I say let CBP son get some more playing time, so at least I can laugh my ass off while I watch us loose!

Comparing men's and women's basketball is not fair in the least bit...

I'd go to Home Depot if I were you. There seems to be a Carbon Monoxide problem in your home.

To JP's credit, everyone was just standing around, including the only player that was downcourt in any sort of reasonable shooting range.

You'd think that with 4.3 we wouldn't have 3 guys trying to get the inbound and no one within 25 feet of the basket as JP ran downcourt.

I don't think Pearl coaches th 5 second or less type situations. We can't even get a reasonable shot off.

My goodness - do you only pay attention to offensive stats? Jeez.

Did you not see the tons of times he made a stupid TO or had an offensive foul? How about bailing people out by retarded fouls (nothing tops Brian's foul though). Most importantly - how about his atrocious defense?

We wouldn't have needed those 17 points if he could freakin' stop someone off the dribble so that wouldn't get EASY uncontested layups. Not to mention he was horrible at boxing out (but that's normal with him). Defense. Defense. DEFENSE.

I have been negative on Jp's awful play in the past....But this was really one of his better efforts. The reason people dislike him is that he makes the worlds dumbest plays at the most crucial of times.

That foul at the end where he forearmed the guy was ridiculous.....and he should have never gotten that inbounds pass at the end, he cant shoot from outside.

All in all he had a decent game....stats wise.

IMO, what is even more pathetic than this loss is the fact that some people are trying to defend it. Yes, teams lose. There will be plenty of teams that lose today. Most of them aren't going to the tournament. That most likely includes this one. This was a BAD loss. Auburn is a bad team. They were every bit a match for UT though. Hmmmm...

i know if he hits it its a different story but with a 4pt lead why did tyler feel the need to take that 3 instead of taking it to the hole with approx. 2 min left??

Terrible atmosphere, two terrible teams, and a pathetic all around effort. I want to vomit when I watch Brian Williams play basketball. We just lost to Auburn. Seriously, Auburn basketball just beat us.

When the Aub. player got the rebound with 12.9 left he took 3 full steps with the ball, wtf ??? good no call at home for tha tiggers !!!

Yes, JP played a great game offensively. But his untimely fouls and defensive lapses also really hurt us. Then again, there is no one better to replace him...

I'm laughing my ass off because you can't spell "LOSE."
