Vols vs. Butler

North Carolina vs. Tennessee - the matchup that most expected. I just don't think it was the expected matchup for the consolation game!

I don't see us having much of a chance against North Carolina. Even though the trip to New York may turn out to be unsuccessfull as far as wins go, hopefully it can be used as a learning experience, because games vs. Memphis, etc. aren't too far away.

Butler just waxed Gonzaga to win the whole enchilada, and UT hangs tough with UNC, playing the last 12 minutes or so without their 2nd best player (JaJuan).

Anybody else feel a bit better besides me?

11 turnovers vs. UNC is very good. The most perplexing thing for me is the terrible, and I mean TERRIBLE free throw shooting.

They're on a roll, no doubt.

Going back to the Butler game, it showed just how important the point guard position. We just need to find some more consistent play from the point guard position. Someone needs to step up and take care of the ball and make better decisions.

Make Bruce should take another look at Marques Johnson. I know he's in the dog house or something, but when he was in there in the earlier games, he did seem to take better care of the ball. He just wasn't aggressive on the offensive end like Ramar, but maybe that's not what we need right now anyway.

As far as the UNC game goes, keeping the turnovers down against a very good team like UNC is more encouraging, so I feel a little better about things. Also, after seeing them win the NIT, Butler is probably going to turn out to be a pretty good team, so maybe losing to them won't look so bad later.

And free throw shooting is a concern. They definitely need to improve there. Free throws can be the deciding factor in a close game, which is what we can expect for most of the SEC season.
