hate to agree with gsvol, but i can't imagine why any republican would want romney.

Romney would certainly be better than Obama considering he knows what capitalism is.

I would cut off my left arm and give it to Chris Christie if it meant he would run. The other prominent republicans I'm not so sure on.

This next election cycle is going to be fun for sure.

better than obama is not a high bar though.

Case in point: John McCain.

I really can't figure out where my Dad is in politics, I just know that I disagree with him a lot so I understand that parents and children can have differing political views. That being said, I think listening to Meghan McCain offers a much more transparent window into how John McCain really thinks than does the (R) next to his name.

Eh, I think that's pretty fallacious. My politics are nothing like my parents. My dad's thoughts on global climate change are nothing like mine, and my views on many subjects in no way reflect his.

I voted for Romney in 08 because I think he was still the best candidate of who was going for the GOP nod.

From what I've seen of Christie I like him. if he's considering running he's playing to close to the chest though. Right now though there's no way to determine who I am backing.

I would never vote for Romney under any circumstances, I doubt he would be much better than Bush I and II and maybe even worse.

Christie is making some waves all right and very well illustrating that real republican style policies do solve some tough problems.

Palin may not be the candidate I like best but I favor her highly over Romney and Huckabee and think that all the mud being slung at her proves the left is afraid she might get the nod.

Usually the very best candidates, (like Duncan Hunter in the last election) are totally ignored by the media and as it stands now the media can't ignore Palin.

So far I havn't seen any real reason to run her down, most of the opposition I've seen posted here is about perception and much of that perception comes from the media and left wing nutjobs.

I still think of the options presented in 08, he was the best one.

My view of Palin comes from my own watching of her. There is nothing about her that makes me think she could be President.

ugh. If we get the '08 election choices all over again, I'll be done with politics for a while.

Why any rational person that isn't a Democrat or Michael Bloomberg thinks Palin is a good choice to take the Republican nomination is beyond me.

Two questions;

1. Who would you rather see be the R candidate?

2. What specific policies promoted by Palin do you oppose?

I might not want it but wouldn't stand in your way.

Exactly. She's one of the main reasons the GOP lost the last election. And that was as a VP candidate.
I don't buy that. McCain was an awful nominee in a bad year for the GOP. As much as she annoys me, Palin's impact was a wash at worst.

no, Palin actually kept McCain close to Obama in the final polling. Had he picked someone like Liebermann or Graham, Obama would have won in a Reagan-style electoral landslide.

There is no way I vote for Palin.

If my options are Obama or Palin, I will sit this one out. Those options put me between a rock and no place.

Can't shake the feeling that her nomination would end up in the GOP "John Kerry'ing" it for 2012. Even my mom, who is more or less right in line with gsvol, as much as she likes Palin, admits that her getting the nod would likely result in another 4 years of Obama.

I wish I could have my Obama vote back, but I would write in codyg before I fill in the bubble next to Palin.

Why not? I could see you two having pleasant conversation on your back porch.

If the race were between Palin and Obama
which would you vote for?

Do you consider Huckabee and/or Romney to
be more desirable as president than Palin?
Obama?

I freaking wish the GOP gives her the nomination. That would be Obama's wet dream. She would get crushed. Less than half of the people in her own party wouldn't vote for her.
