Alright, so the Palin-Biden debate is happening on my campus :). Starting tomorrow, they'll be finishing setting up, tightening security, and closing every road around campus leaving me virtually trapped here for two days.

So that leaves me with the question of, what should I do guys? Debate and everything else

I just graduated from Wash U with my grad degree this past January. Good school.

Wasn't there a presidential debate there in 2004?

I say try and start "the wave"

Note: You must be drunk and have an open beer to pull this off.

Thanks, I enjoy it.

Yeah I believe that there was a presedential debate in 04 and 00...kinda makes me a bit upset this is only VP.

I'm really hoping I get a ticket at this point, Im on the possible list but it all depends on how many the university gets. crossing my fingers. :crossfingers:

If not....well, maybe a VP drinking game with my friends :)

Now I understand a bit better where the idealism and believing candidate blather comes from.

A man that hasn't paid much tax just doesn't think very much about it.

I don't understand what you are trying to say about Wash U here. It breeds idealists and idiots?

I didn't call you or WU anything. I said I understand where the idealism and gullibility come from. It's not WU, it's the fact that you're essentially a student.

You don't have the slightest clue as to what you are talking about. You don't know my age, educational background, or professional career. Then you attribute my "idealism and gullibility" to the fact that I am "essentially" a student.

This comes across as pretty condescending, whether you mean it to or not.

Ask them about the Tennessee Football bail out plan. I'd like to see how they respond.

Usually they go somewhere public after the debate, and you can meet them. Like a nice hotel, bar or restaurant where thy receive and meet their supporters. My suggestion go meet them, shake their hand, etc.

The Secret Service loves that kind of stuff.

I've already heard pretty prevalent rumors the service took over some frat boys rooms for security-monitoring purposes, maybe even a sniper

I would really like to get off campus and do that if they go somewhere, but unfortunately, since the road to the entrance of my part of campus (Big Bend) is closed today, it would mean that if I leave campus, I can't get back on till tomorrow

Also, I think I was able to convince some of my friends to paint themselves, make some signs, and treat one of the hardball showings today as though it were college gameday. hopefully they'll follow up on that :)

Not more than anybody else, but I never made blanket sterotypes of this sort and then personally attributed them to a single poster.

Since it offends you so much for us to assume then tell us a little bit about yourself; or do you prefer to hide behind your righteous indignation?

I am not going to go into any details, but since you seem to care, here is an overview of me:

Graduated 8 years ago with my undergraduate in engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, finished my masters in engineering this year from Washington University in St. Louis, and have been working professionally for 10 years (2 years of internship). You can do the math on my probable age range. Married, with one child. I am far from "gullible and idealistic" simply because I am "essentially" a student.

Are you satisfied or would I be hiding behind my apparent "righteous indignation" if I wanted to keep everything else off a message board on the internet?

Not to speak for him but I think it points to the saying:

"If you are young and conservative you have no heart, if you are old and liberal you have no brain".
