VY

As I've said for a year, VY is a horrible passer. And for anyone to give him more than a pinch of credit for this team's success is ridiculous.

Wow, so you've been saying he's a "horrible passer" for the last year or so. Additionally, I've also seen you insult his intelligence on numerous occasions. Anything else you would like to contribute to this thread?

Why the hostility? You've downed players before.

I just don't appreciate some of the insults Vince takes on a daily basis. When I used to usher the players and coaches to and from the buses before home games, I can remember a certain group of fans calling him a dumb n*****, saying he'll never make it in this league, teasing his fallacious wonderlic score, telling him he looked like a giant ape when he was under center, and many other insults I'd rather not go into.

I once asked him if any of these incredulous attacks impacted him in any kind of way. His answer was something I found very distressing. "People have no idea how much that stuff hurts me," Vince said. "It feels like I'm being stabbed in the heart." So if I sound somewhat defensive when the criticism starts piling up on here, you'll know why.

No, but insulting his intelligence was unjustified.

I can understand being defensive but VolinArizona did not mention race nor did he insult VY's intelligence. (Unless I am missing some editing.) Two misquotes will kill any defense you write.

When you say he isn't a good passer.. what do you mean? I've seen him make every throw that you can make in the NFL. What I've noticed he just isn't consistent with the mechanics (very few) he does have. You'll see him miss a wide up safety valve 10 yards infront of em or something.

I know the guy can pass... he's just got to read coverages better and be more consistent with his throws. And - if the Titans finally decide to draft a WR in the first round or trade for one... that will help a ton.

I'm not talking about his post last night. There's a little thing called posting history you apparently aren't aware of.

I'm sure people would think something was wrong with Peyton Manning if his receivers consisted of Justin Gage, Roydell Williams, and Brandon Jones too. It also doesn't help when you have a guy like Ben Troupe that couldn't catch a football to save his life either. Oh, and what RB on that team would be considered a good receiving back? That's why he has to take off running half the time because he has no options other than his primary target and if that's sealed off he can't hit the RB or TE like other QB's have the luxury of doing in the league. Once they get the right tools around him than he will be great. I'm sure his running lanes will open up too when the defense actually has to cover a few receivers and a TE better than Troupe or Scaife. Imagine if VY had Moss, Stallworth, and Welker like Brady does. It's like wondering why Jeff Gordon couldn't win if he were given a VW bus in NASCAR.

The conversation will be moot if he doesn't start learning to dive and run out of bounds more. This isn't college, and one of these days, as I'm sure they've told him, some LB is gonna put a major hat on him when he's out there running with abandon. Hopefully the game against the Bucs a few weeks ago at least reminded him that he too can be hurt.

Is it? Rumor has it the guy scored an 8 on the Wonderlic. I recently took that test for employment and couldn't have scored less than a 20 if I actually tried to. And I'm no Stephen Hawking.

It could be that the guy is just bad at taking tests. Still, there is at least some grounds for questioning his ability to be an effective field general over the long term.

The rumor was wrong. He officially scored a 16 (higher than Steve Mcnair, Dan Marino, Randall Cunningham and Terry Bradshaw). Vinny Testaverde scored a 17.

I think VY is just playing nervous and getting rattled. He is the face of the franchise, and everyone expects him to be up to Manning and Brady's level, but the fact is he's a second year QB, which most second year QB's struggle. He is still a better QB than anyone else on the Titans roster, and if he wasn't, Coach Fisher would make a change.

I'm glad the Titans drafted VY, and I think the Titans are as well.
