Wake fires Danny Manning

Of course, maybe they also just never were as good as I remember them being. When I think of Wake basketball, I immediately think of Tim Duncan and Chris Paul. It's been a loooong time since either of them were there, especially Duncan. And even when Duncan and Paul were there, it isn't like Wake was great. They were good, but not consistently a great team. They made a Sweet Sixteen with Paul his freshman year, but then got bounced early his sophomore season. They made some tournament runs with Duncan and won the ACCT once, but didn't make a Final Four or beyond.

Outside of those two eras, their program has had virtually no success.
I remember Muggsy Bogues also when I think of WF Basketball

The rumored final 6 names for the Wake Forest head coaching job are

Matta
Forbes
Miller
Kelsey
Amaker
Odom

The only reasons that I can think that Amaker would take that job would be to prove that he can succeed at a P5 school and that he thinks he might have some sort of an outside shot at the Duke job if he turned around Wake.

The rumors I have heard is that Forbes is willing to stay at ETSU for awhile until a certain job in Knoxville opens up whenever Barnes decides to leave or retire.

Forbes is 55. I think if he wants a job at the next level, he better jump on this.

I hope Forbes stays at ETSU. I've heard him more than once say that he was tired of moving around

Matta would be a home run hire for Wake Forest but I think they probably hire an upcoming mid major coach.

Now to see who replaces him at ETSU.

When Forbes came to Johnson City, the Bucs where a sad mess of a program. Fast forward to now, not exactly a power program, but he did take them up a step or two. Whoever takes the helm at ETSU now will have to sustain or improve as opposed to trying for a ground up rebuild.

your definition of "sad mess" is the real life definiton of average mid major
