Wow. That's some kind of spite right there. Hope he was ready to retire because he won't be around any other program after this.

How does this guy get another job? I'm not talking about another announcing job; I mean any job? He completely sold out his alma mater and employer.

I wouldn't hand this guy my debit card at Taco Bell. Way to burn every bridge possible out of spite.

I hope this doesn't affect UT grad and former Carson Newman announcer Stan Cotton...he always seemed like a good dude...I think he is their play-by-play guy still

Since was just a radio announcer at time, I would like to know how he was getting that info?

I thought maybe a current player or coach that was there when he was asst. trusted him with info, but they said nobody else was involved.

Sounds like he attended meetings and walk-thrus.

He might as well enroll in Tulsa Welding School. His career in football and broadcasting is over. Had he pulled this stunt in Tuscaloosa, his picture would be on the side of a milk carton by now.

This should be a much bigger story, but probably won't be because it happened to Wake Forest. Glad to see SI has an article about it. Can you imagine if Alabama's radio guy gave a game plan to Auburn coaches? It would be a scandal on the same level (maybe even bigger) than Cam Newton allegedly getting paid.

I wonder what his specific motive was. Spite, sure - but were the opposing teams paying him? Could he have been doing it for betting purposes? Not surprised at all that Petrino is involved.

You never throw everything away for something like Spite.
I guarantee you money has exchanged hands. Maybe not directly but indirectly. It's no surprise to me that a problematic coach like Petrino is involved you can take the coach out of the problem but the problem never gets out of the coach.

Fired then sued.

Is that OUR dave clawson at Wake Forest--he of the vaunted Clawfence that fairly put the nail in Fulmer's run as head coach? Fulmer was an example of what happens when you don't have two excellent coordinators. Granted, excellent coordinators aren't so easy to find, but if you don't have good ones you will fail. He had a good DC in Chavis, and a terrible OC in Sanders--and the deteriorating offense, and recruiting, spelled the end for ole Phil--but then the rest of his staff got stale too. Having a coaching staff with whom you are very comfortable only works when they are recruiting and producing wins. You get coaches and coordinators who are good at what they do.

Why bring this up? What's Fulmer have to do with this? Clawson was in over his head everyone would happily admit that. I would say the guy has done ok for himself sense then. You take chances live and learn.

I didn't know Petrinos OC was on staff with this Radio guy.
Either way Petrino needs answer a lot of questions.

Jurich admitting today that their OC received a "few plays" from Elrod.

Louisville Cardinals admit to receiving leaked plays prior to game vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons

The ACC needs to tear some athletic facilities apart and see exactly how far this goes. I agree with a previous poster that there is no way this was done purely out of spite. Elrod was getting paid to do this, involved in gambling, or both. Who all was paying him? Either way it needs to be thoroughly investigated. As Booger says in the video at the link this needs to be looked at in a similar fashion as a crooked ref or players involved in point shaving.

From the ESPN story:

Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich said in a statement Wednesday that offensive coordinator Lonnie Galloway received "a few plays" from former Wake Forest radio announcer Tommy Elrod, who has since been fired for leaking confidential information to the Demon Deacons' opponents.

Galloway and Elrod have known each other since 2007 and worked together on the Wake Forest football staff from 2011 to 2012.

"Lonnie received a call from Elrod during the week of the Wake Forest game, and some information was shared with him that week," Jurich said in a statement. "Among the communication were a few plays that were sent and then shared with our defensive staff. None of the special plays were run during the course of the game. Our defense regularly prepares for similar formations every week in their normal game plan.

The fact that Galloway did not immediately report Elrod to Wake Forest and to the ACC makes him guilty of cheating. Whether or not the specific plays were run is completely irrelevant. Galloway, and anyone else on Louisville's staff who were aware of what Elrod had done, must be slapped with lengthy show cause orders by the NCAA.

Petrino could absolutely lose his job over this and be terminated for cause...again. I wonder how many other schools got plays from Elrod. They are all guilty of it and the people at the schools who got them could be terminated, right?

And I would not be in any way surprised if coaches at other programs were willing to accept this info. This could wind up affecting half of the teams in the ACC.

Stop the #(&%$!* presses; we actually agree on something.

For Louisville, this is chickens coming home to roost. Petrino has no integrity, period. Louisville laid down with a dog, and now they're waking up with fleas.

In before the VN sea lawyers speak up: Petrino knew. You don't keep that info from your HC.

It will be interesting to see what the ACC, and the NCAA does with this one.

Go Vols.

Wakeyleaks: Louisville AD Tom Jurich released a statement Wednesday admitting his coaching staff accepted, shared and used knowingly stolen information. Days after their game vs. Wake, Bobby Petrino on ESPN stated the staff had no knowledge of Wake’s game plan. Very bad look for Louisville. Can’t imagine more ripples from these leaks aren’t coming out…soon

Agreed. He absolutely knew. Just like Joe Pa knew about Sandusk.
