This dude played lights out this year. Wonder where he ends up. I do not see him going lateral or to another mid level program. I think he wants to play on a bigger stage, and/or flashier offense. An article mentioned LSU which is appealing to any QB as long as Joe Brady is there. I was a bit surprised by this, but if he ends up in the right situation, could play at a heisman level. Some schools that may be interested in his services (purely speculation):
Ole Miss
Oklahoma
Oregon
Miss State
Florida State
South Carolina
LSU

Anyone else have thoughts on where he ends up?

Don't be surprised if because of Geoff Collins Georgia Tech winds up being one of the teams that Jamie Newman is interested in.

Good idea! I’d love for GT to get him, but they are two more recruiting cycles away from being competitive. Think he wants a situation that will improve his draft stock.

Would be hilarious if Lincoln Riley Starts another transfer QB...He never actually starts a recruit, just plays transfers lol.
Being that Oklahoma is on our schedule next year, I hope he doesn’t go to Oklahoma. He could light it up next year. The guy is an impressive athlete and passer.

Because it’s our luck, he will end up at Ok, Ga, or Bama to replace Tua.

What would you guys think of him here? I have NO reason to expect this to be in the realm of possibility. Just wondered the reaction of Volnation. I’ll get my🍿 ready.

He's a good quarterback and i'll just leave it at that

In no way was I weighing in on our QB room. I know others will, but I am alright with our current situation with a highly touted freshman coming in to go along with a wealth of experience. I just wondered for curiosity’s sake about a primo athlete like Newman in our offense.

Personally I don't think Tennessee needs a transfer quarterback at this point

The last thing TN needs is another QB in this cycle. I could see this kid winding up at Baylor or an offense and QB situation similar.

I thought about Baylor too. He’d fit that offense well, but Charlie Brewer was a sophomore this year I think and played really well and seems to have the respect of his team.

Brewer playing "really well" is a matter of opinion and he seems injury prone on top of that. A lot of his injury situation isn't his fault, but still, after 4 concussions your time is getting close to almost up.

He’s not transferring to a team not only in conference but also in a worse situation than Wake Forest.

He didn’t lose his starting job; he’s playing the “I have high NFL prospects: which major program that needs a starter would give me a chance to boost those prospects even further on a national stage.”

Even with a good backup, that’s also a pretty big loss for Wake Forest as far as trying to build that program goes.

Weird imo. Daniel Jones played around equally obscure Duke and went to the Giants as the 6th overall pick. If you can play the scouts and GMs can find you and know exactly who you are. He could go #1 overall out of WF if he’s good enough, doesn’t really matter. Thinking there’s a little more to this.

From the Winston-Salem Journal:

“Newman’s comments after the Pinstripe Bowl about needing to take to rest and discuss his future with his family were telling; in retrospect, what he said about his own health speaks volumes about what’s next for Wake Forest’s quarterbacks.

‘I think it’s been pretty obvious I’ve been banged up pretty much all season, for the most part,’ Newman said. ‘I’ve just gotta fight, just gotta let my body heal up and learn from this year and take it into next year.’”

Jamie Newman is transferring from Wake Forest. Where do the Deacons go from here at quarterback?

Brewer is only a sophmore? I could have sworn he had been there for like 5 years already.
