Tennessee football players will move into Gibbs Hall on Friday as the Vols are set to report for the start of fall camp which opens on Saturday with the first practice set for 3:40pm that afternoon.
Signee Steven Fowlkes of College Park, Georgia has been cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse and will report Friday afternoon. Fellow signee offensive lineman Dallas Thomas has been admitted to Tennessee and cleared to report to camp on Friday as well.
Olive Branch, Mississippi linebacker/defensive end Marlon Walls will not report on Friday with the squad. Walls is still completing summer school work and hopes to be at Tennessee in August at some point before classes start. Classes start on Wednesday, August 20th.
Murfreesboro, Tennessee defensive tackle Montori Hughes is also still trying to complete summer school work to help his core gpa and try to become eligible. At this point, prep school would be the likely destination for Hughes with getting to Tennessee not ruled completely out.
Everyone else in the signing class is in school for summer school and will be on the practice field Saturday and that includes linebacker Gerald Williams and tight end Brandon Warren.
Williams is still finishing up his last summer school class, but will get to practice with the Vols for the first time since getting pulled off the practice field and sent home in August of 2005.
As for Warren, he will be on the practice field on Saturday going through workouts with the Vols and the optimism is that Warren will know the results of his appeal or at least one of his appeals by then. Warren has to win an appeal with the NCAA for not honoring his letter of intent as well as an appeal with the SEC over credit hours.
