Yeah, like I'm the one who has attempted to apply a religious standard to those seeking office.
Why would this bother me at all? She has to make her case and be elected. I would fully expect her religious convictions to inform her politics. So long as she is open about that, I could even vote for her if we agreed on the issues.
Not all Muslims are radical. My argument is with those of you who minimize Islamists and the threat they pose.

So because she's Muslim you want her to discuss her religious views and how they affect her politics, and you are okay with it only if she does so? If she were Christian you would not impose the same requirement....

Dangit, there's racism in that there post somewhere. I can smell it. I just need to ask him to define his post a couple times until I can pull it out.

You said that IF she is open about her faith and how that informs her politics, you could vote for her.
That implies to me that if a Muslim candidate ran and said they'd not discuss their faith then you would not vote for them.
Now tell the truth: If in your community a woman was running for school board and said I'm Muslim, but I am not going to discuss that, wouldn't you automatically disqualify her in your own mind?

Whats the purpose of claiming the muslim faith?
"Claiming"?
That's not what I meant and doesn't seem to be what he contemplated, either.
If a candidate for local office is a Muslim, but won't discuss it, is that a problem for anyone? I suspect it would be for a lot of people, whether they'd say so or not.
Wouldn't she have to make that public for anyone to know that?
Im Baptist. You wouldn't know unless I told you.
The point was, if shes open about being a follower of islam why not be open to answering questions about it?
