Considering 50% of Americans in a 2023 Gallup poll said they used cannabis…

Seriously, a lot of people obviously have no idea how pervasive it is in our culture. Now with edibles and vapes, people can partake without the person next to them even being aware.
It's everywhere and always has been. It was underground for so long due to legality....and it no longer has to be. Actually,TN ranks very high on the usage list even with it being illegal.
Used to be Mexican dirt weed was $80/oz...maybe in bulk it was $800-$900 lb...now you can get top quality dispensary bud for $120-$150/oz($1300lb) plus a huge increase in potency..
...from what I've been told

There are people in my apartment building that literally do smoke every moment they are awake. Smells like ass and I am not sure how they afford to live in the building being high 100% of the time.
GUMMIES. How hard is it?

My wife is suffering from a bowel obstruction. It's extremely painful and it has severely dehydrated her.
I bought her some THC gummies (the legal ones because the THC comes from low yield hemp) at the hemp store, and that is the only thing that allows her to stand the pain and not vomit hourly.
She had many opioids prescribed and muscle relaxers that didn't help much, and the pain meds probably made her condition worse.
When she eats a gummy she can eat in order to get some calories and strength. It has helped her. She was down to 90lbs. and has gained 10lbs in the last 3 weeks since eating gummies.
I should add her normal weight is @125-135. She is extremely sick right now. Her father died quickly and mysteriously 5 years ago, and he had the exact same symptoms she had when we took her to the emergency room last week.

The gummies I buy her have 10mg of delta9, and smaller amount of the other deltas. I have been reading about it, but am definitely no experts about any aspect of buying or using weed for other people. I don't read much into the supposed differences in effect of the different deltas.

$10-20 a gram is what my friend who is a sheriff's deputy told me it costs in general.
I honestly don't know what a gram of the real thing looks or feels like, or how much that is for a person or two. Her gastroenterologist kept talking about how smoking the stuff is helping chemo and radiation patients control nausea and enables them to eat and hold down food. She said no prescription works as well.

I've never smoked it in my life except one time 3 years ago (I was recovering from ulnar nerve surgery and opioids make me itch furiously, now. I used to enjoy the effect of hydrocodone when prescribed, but now any opioid makes me itch ) and I inhaled as deeply as I could several times, held it for almost a minute each time trying to use my lung capacity, and got no high whatsoever. I have tried my wife's delta9 gummies and they are quite good at relieving my arthritis pain in hips and knees when I have a flareup (weekly). I have only eaten gummies on the weekend. I would never do it at work or going to work. Just not my style. I don't drink during weeknights or the night before I work either. I'm never 100% the next day.

I'll take your word on ass smells.

Using cannabis 'all the time' isn't necessarily a deterrent to making a living wage, fyi.
I fully agree… It’s only my personal experience, and maybe theirs is different, but most of the successful people I know (or at least the financially independent people I know) use cannabis on at least a weekly basis, and many of them in a daily basis.

The thing about marijuana is it has the potential to affect each person’s in a different way. What may cause me to focus better night cause you to fall asleep on the couch. It’s the interaction of THC with your brain chemistry… there is a lot to learn still and we’re behind in research because of prohibition.

Honestly-don't underestimate the benefit of that falling asleep on the couch part.

Some may have sleep issues in general which have persisted for decades-and medical professionals unable to help.

Hard to argue that any person is not much more effective in all aspects of their life coming off 6-7 good hours of sleep vs 3-4 hours of fitful tossing and turning

Seen it within my own family. It is what it is man.

So sick of breathing that skunk weed while driving down the interstate. People blazing on the way to work is ridiculous. It’s amazing how so many people are consumed by marijuana these days. My brother smokes it 24/7. He’s about as productive as a homeless person.

For some, I think there's a genetic underpinning. Others see it as a way of coping with stress of job, family and life in general. It's also far more accepted by our culture today than when I was young. Much easier to obtain as well....as are all illicit drugs. To me, what's nuts is to be out in a vehicle with it or under the influence. Just stay at home if you're going to use that stuff. Same for alcohol. Yeah, I know...old man talkin', but no matter how old you are....stupid is still stupid.
There is no question that pot is not near as destructive as alcohol--physiologically or socially. If you're against the use of both, I'm good with it. When you are O.K. with alcohol use and not MJ, you're not being rational.

I'll be honest in West Virginia they should have legalized it 20 years ago. Not to say the opiate crisis would be solved, but I will stand firm that thousands of lives would be here vs 6 feet below. 80,000 dead a year from overdoses. Say 10k would have stuck with pot (very conservative estimate) youd fill Neyland every 10 years from that. Many turn to sniffing junk because of physical and mental pain. I'm sure a percentage would have been helped from some reefer and able to work the next day. It's really a matter of empathy for others. I don't like pot and if it saves someone's life from the alternatives flooding through the border we should think about loving our neighbors who have the right to make different decisions
I have a two friends with severe chronic back pain. They have to take opioids and they are tested for other drugs prior to filling each opioid prescription. To get the opioids, state law says they can't test positive for marijuana use. How stupid is that? Probably due to the opioid suppliers' lobby. If they could ingest THC, they would curb their opioid use. Another good example of the corruptness of an overreaching government.

You're seriously breathing....in taking second hand MJ smoke... on the interstate...traveling at interstate speeds? Do you know the difference between skunk spray and any variety of weed? "people taking a few tokes on the way to work"..why assume they're getting high to go to work as opposed to reducing some kind of physiological or physical symptom so they CAN work? It's obviously been proven to be effective in reducing psychological and physical symptoms...maybe read up on it. "So many people"? Please! "As productive as a homeless person"? Lol . I see homeless people all the time....there working to get their next meal..that is epitome of productive.

One of the most rational statements I've read today!

Spooky and CAV are dialed in as well.

Assume you are talking TN? My wife, after years in pharma, spent the last several years as a sales manager for a huge testing lab which did exactly the testing you’re talking about. Unless it has changed VERY recently, there’s no law requiring a physician to test for THC or anything else, and a lot of them either ask for THC to be left off the panel or simply ignore it. There are some great reasons for the testing, but THC testing is just a CYA for a doctor.

As to folks smoking and working, I can’t do it, but I know several who perform better.

1. I’m very familiar with what marijuana smells like and yes, they smoke it in Alabama going down the interstate all of the time. The smell comes into the vehicle from vents. State troopers stop vehicles all of the time when they are certain that it’s coming from a specific car.

2. I’m sure 99% of employers do not want people taking a “few tokes” on the way to work.

3. So for health purposes you enhale the smoke? Instead of getting THC through other non harmful ways??? Ok.

4. Homeless people working to get their next meal??? Laughable. Like standing there with a sign? They are called travelers and they prefer their way of life.

quit making excuses for dopers.
